How much do you guys think I could get for this RX2?

I tried to crank it over the weekend and seems like it needs some work. My builder tells me that the apex seals are stuck and recommends I should just go ahead with putting in an 1st gen 12A with more modern ignition system instead of trying to get it unstuck.

I'm debating if I should sell it or put in the 12A. I just really don't want to mess around with this car now.. And just taking up driveway space. What do you think I could get from this car?? Engine seems to be original and it has 60+k miles. interior is in good shape for its year but two front seats needs to be replaced.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Although Im not a RX-2 fan, the overall condition aint that bad. As your mechanic suggested, install a 1st gen 12-a motor with electronic ignition. Either get those seats re-done OR use a 1st gen seats.

I guess people are intereted in the RX2.. I had 4 PMs asking about how much.

As of now, my highest offer was 1500. I'm still debating at that amount.

In So. Cal, it is worth 2K like it sits. Alabama may be a little different. Your best bet is to put it on ebay.

So far no one from AL contacted me.. LOL!

I'm also waiting for my builder to price me out on 12A 1st gen engine swap.. If its cheap, I'll just keep it.. Otherwise, I'll probably take first person to offer me $1750 and get another FD... I'm kind of leaning that way right now anyhow..

Who is your builder?... Have you tried to put some automatic tranny fluid through the carby and then towing it in second gear.... That mite unstick your seals. It did it for me for my 79 SA and the car regained full compression again... You have nothing to lose and all to gain...

Wow, that thing ain't bad at all! If you're not really into it then might as well sell it to a good home. It sure is a classic though!

I understand. I should of been more clear. My builder does think he could start the car. He just thinks that its going to give me problems if I built it and did auto X/track with it. He recommended that I use a more modern ignition system from 12A 1st gen then dual carb that it has. And to be honest, I have way too much FD parts and it would be easier for me to track an FD than with a deuce. And by the time I get all the suspension, engine, turbo etc. I would of put as much money into this as in an FD. Hence I think its just better for me to get another Fd than fixing this..

I know, I rather see it goto someone who's going to do it right then me holding on to it for another year or two. Also, I don't have enough room on my driveway
