How do I test the magnetic pickups for dfldis?

Guys,
I'm still without spark tryig this. I made the mistake of thinking I could fix a bad igntion with direct fire. It's an 85 distributor and everything else is new and checks out. how do I know it's sending signal to the gm hei's?

Figured it out

I have it running rather well. Problem was the original wire harness from the pickup coils in the distributor. I was able to fix the leading one but the trailing is on again off again because of bad wire. I have it cut and rewired as far back as I could but the wire still looses continuity. I'm thinking they are molded into the plastic when they're made and you can't replace the whole wire. Am I correct? I have a friend at the mazda dealer I was going to see if it's still available.
I took it up the drive way and around the cul de sac and it sounds great!!!
