Help Starting a New Motor

I am getting ready to start my project for the first time and need some advice. I have an '88 engine with a Dellorto Carb, distributor from a 12A. Any tips on installing the distributor, getting oil pressure before I start it?

To build the oil pressure before firing...
You could just crank the engine over with the coils unplugged...
