How is it not fitting? Hitting the pitman arm? Body? Pics may help.

1. one header bolts up to the studs but it hits the side of the frame and wont slid on the studs to fit against the motor completely. 2. the other header fits and dosent hit anything but the studs dont line up with the holes on the flang. i cant drill the holes to be bigger and fit because the pip holes dont line up at all with the exhaust ports ill try to take pics but dose any one know if the 71-73 racing beat headers fit the rx2?

thats the difference between the 12a, and the12AP the first version was the 12a, the 12AP came out in later rx-3's and has a different exhaust housieng stud configuration. the 12AP's are what most people call the 12a but they are wrong. the twin dizzy is the real 12a not the single dizzy.

I could have told you the studs spacing was different, but I just now saw this thread. lol Mazda changed stud loctions to fit a larger thermal reactor on '74+ models. They had to change two tension bolts locations too (the other one allowed a different leading spark plug location).

You can either buy a '71-'73 header flange from RB, which I did to fit my "12A" or you can slot the holes vertically (actually diagonally) which I also did to install a 13B where my 12A used to be (in an MG Midget, so I didn't have to build a new header in that crowded engine bay).

Just pay attention to where the studs physically are in the rotor housing and compare. You'll figure it out.

slot your holes, or buy the one for your car
