hallelujah! I got me a REPU.
I was cruising a junkyard the other day looking to scope out a recently deposited 88 NA for parts. I spotted a triangle shape on the grill of a white pickup in the new arrival section. When I checked it out, there it was...a fully intact 77 REPU. Its got everything. Grill, emlems, mudflaps, bumpers, and no rust. I am giggly over this. I just gotta share the news and gloat a bit.

Yes-sir-ee...That's right, white, with no dents, no rust, optional tail bumper, 5 speed, fabulous interior less cracked vinyl seat bench, and even a great windshield with no chips. This thin even has the koito headlights. Did the guy even drive thisthing? Oh, yea...I got two cracked turn signals, and a beat up front valance. i guess you can't get everything.

I gave a whole $300.00 + tax. They wanted $500 but settled for less. It needs a rebuild, but still, I have a very good start for a nice classic, and because they are rare, I like it even more. They just look Oh so cool. I am thinking it needs to be a bright yellow with chrome wide wheels under those flares.
You have a 74? Does it run? What are your plans for it?

Mine is a '74, runs great. I got it over 100mph on the drive to Sevenstock5. It was pretty much DOA when I got it, I don't know that it was running on an entire rotor I put in an '86 motor, Weber side-draft and the cheapest exhaust Muffler Master could hook me up with. I just got a RB header and now I need a few more exhaust parts and I will be done with the engine related stuff (for now).

Well to each his own, but as someone who has changed their color on their truck. I regret it.
The important thing is that it is out of the junkyard.
And what luck some folks have when finding their Mazda's.
You dog....$300.......SHeeess!!!!!!!!!

Hey, all, I will get a pic of it up when I get a chance. It is original white right now, and if recomendations require, I will repaint it white as a course of protocol. I really want it a bright new generation yellow, only because I think it will look very cool. I already have a white Turbo II. a white NA, and a white Toyota 4runner. I am about whited out.
Mine came with a brand spankin new, non-rusted 3" exhaust with a high flow muffler and a header. It looks like the PO worked hard to revive it but decided not to invest any more in it. I think the water seal it out as it billows smoke bigtime. Lucky for me. The engine is the easy part. The under carriage is completely non rusted, and it has never been wrecked in any way as there is no evidence whatsoever. I am anxious to get working on it, but I have 2 other cars ahead of it to get finished and on the market.

That is quite an affordable find! I spent $3000 for mine, but it is all suped-up with a Camden supercharger on a Turbo 13B motor and first gen 5 speed. It is set up to run on propane which works great at preventing detonation. I've added Addco sway bars, Jacob's ignition, methanol injection, sticky tires and raised the boost to 10 psi from the original 7. The interior only needs new carpet and the beast could use a new paint job, but a can of white touch-up paint did the job in a pinch.
Have fun with your new project! Yee-hah!

Hi Jeff,
Yeah, I got it from Skip. He and his wife Nancy were very gracious to me when I bought it and took me out to breakfast the morning after I arrived in Seattle. I drove it all the way to Tucson starting that next day. It's been very reliable!
It runs very cool and I love the whine of the blower. My friends always know when I'm coming down the street. =)

Hello,
Hey Mike - I think that Skip had told me about your car when I met him in Seattle. That sounds like it was a fun car.
I can get you a photo of the engine bay in about a week. I'm taking my business to a trade show in Vegas starting tomorrow am. If I forget to get you one, e-mail me and I'll get it right out. jeff@poolrock.com
Hey Tom - who is putting together the RCCAZ chapter in Tucson? Let me guess... Pambos? Whoever it is, please have them contact me about it at jeff@poolrock.com.
Thanks for the tip! Maybe I could attend a meet when the Tucson crowd heads up to Phx or vice versa.
Best regards,
Jeff

Oh? Small world. Yeah, I was asking him about emissions I believe. I'm in CA and could not get the car passed, it failed visual (miserably). Here are some photos:

it was frightening, but very fast. Too bad I could never get it registered.
