getting started with RX2's

Hi there. My girlfriend's dad wants to give me two 1972 RX2 sedans. I took a quick look at them a couple days ago (it's the first time I've ever seen an RX2 up close) and they definitely look like something I'd be very interested in. I'm a 60's/70's BMW guy and this will be my first non-BMW / non-pistion car so I could use some information about them so I thought I'd ask here.

What the owner said is they're in good mechanical shape, one has a completely rebuilt front end and they both have recent water pumps and alternators and he has a repair manual and extra maintanance parts for them. They have been sitting for about 1.5 years but he thinks they'll fire right up with a jump and he can set the points up for me pretty fast.

The problem is they're both automatics, which I can't really deal with so I'll need to swap a manual gearbox in as soon as possible (assuming nothing more pretting has to be done).

My plan is to take both cars and give one to a friend of mine (he wants whichever one is worse) - he said he can get me a gearbox and some conversion parts in return.

Can anyone tell me more about these cars? They look really cool to me, the bodies are in ok shape (from what I could tell) and they're pretty complete, though the interiors are in poor shape. I'm also wondering:
- what kind of carb do they use
- does an early (1st gen) RX7 gearbox / pedalbox fit these? are there any other 1st gen RX7 parts I should find? I fee RX7's in junkyards a lot but not RX2's. what about driveshaft length for manual vs. automatic?
- he said Saab 900 seats are a good fit for the front but are there other seats that I could get at a junkyard? from some other mazda car?

I'll hopefully be able to pick these cars up pretty soon and take some photos of them to post. I'm pretty excited about it but I don't really know what I'm getting into. Right now I won't have much money to do major things with them but later I'll hopefully be able to attempt a restoration on the one I keep or something of the sort.

Ah also are there any websites about RX2 that i should visit? I havent found any yet.

Actually I'm working on an RX2 right now.

Check there on info for converting the RX2 Auto to manual. Also if you're looking to put in a 13b motor some guy in Australia has a website for it.

Hope it helps.
