Question fair price for a 72 rx2?

Ok I found an rx2 right here in texas but I am having some difficulty agreeing on a price for it.

This is the listing:
http://houston.craigslist.org/cto/2165617546.html

I am trying to buy it less the engine and wheels as I have both and dont really care for the ones it has.

Can you guys tell me what you think its worth?

yeah in the condition it is in definitively not worth 4k. I got bought one a while back as a roller for a whole lot less I am talking less than 1k as a roller, no rust other than normal for the car of that age.

I got an email from him and he said he'd knock 1k off for the engine and wheels. I told him that was still to rich for me and pitched him an offer for 1k but I dont think hes gonna like it much. I keep seeing decent drivers for like 5k is that about average?

$5k is the going price for a descent one, $10k would be for a clean one with mods like ported engine and nice rims. $1k gets your e-mail offer sent to the spam folder

Hey I got your email Venom glad to hear about the trim! I wasnt kidding when I said I hate hunting parts. I will try to call you tomorrow but someone hit the phone box out by the highway and they havent got a new one in. I live in B.F.E. so cell service is sketchy at best.

Rotor holic: I hear ya, I hate lowballers but all I saw in the pictures he posted was a stripped out tub with some glass. When I see ~driveable, mostly complete cars going for 5k I cant justify 3k for a shell.

Well I want it to look stock outside, interior I couldnt give a flying rat about. As far as engine goes. I have a sweet s3 13b, mild street port, pierce intake, dell'orto carb, rb header, MSD ignition etc, etc that I really need to get off of the shop shelf and into a car before it rots. And considering how it moved my FB it should make that RX2 scream!

Isnt the title of this thread what is a fair price for an Rx-2? dunno why you are getting heated about my opinion when Texrx started this thread to ask for feedback/opinions. I understand that its your car and you probably dont want to hear what people think about it. Tha2nks for the comment about my car btw and glws.

I do understand what you're sayin Rotor venom, its SOP when you're selling something to ask for more than you expect to get. As for its actual value, I see that as a matter for the buyer and seller only.

OZZYINCALI:
I'm sure yours is nice but I'm huntin something in the 1-2k range and would really prefer to swap my TII since I can only have so many projects at a time.

Then to be honest u dont have enough to spend on an old school. Maybe a barn find roller rusted through with cancer. But a running driving track car with no rust+aftermarket parts race ready? Is a tad out of your leauge. My bottom is 3k and i dont beleive anyone car argue that isnt a deak concidering what your getting.

As far as your 71 It all depends on what your goal is in the end. But dont expect me to budge when you want a dd and are pricing it that way when clearly i have a track ready car. To me its a steal and if i didnt need the cash i wouldnt be selling it. And it looks like iwont be and thats fine.

Id rather keep it. Cuz im not gonna loose money on it. And when u know you only have 2k why do u bother messaging somebody asking 4k? Thays a bit insulting i think. Typing this off my phone at the spur of reading recent posts so sorry it sounds like im cutting anyones throat here its just how i feel no harm intended. lol

Clearly your not just saying what a fair price is . Would be your saying my car isnt worth 4k. Which i dont doubt seeing as i overpriced it some. Sure. But coming here plugging your own sale is a bit rude i think. And im not out of line for putting it rather plainly. Talking price here. Thats all . and i dont think i was being nasty at all. just depends how you read it.

Honestly man from what I have found since your listing, which was in fact the first one I looked at when I started researching prices, 1500-2k doesnt seem that unreasonable for what I am looking for. I have been offered a non running but ~95% complete car for 3k. So why should I expect to pay more than 2k for one with no interior, no engine, and whatever junk wheels the PO cares to slap on to roll it on the trailer? Maybe an old school is outta my league, though.

I could see how plugging my own car WOULD be rude if it was YOUR thread! I was more making a comparison vs 2 Rx2s. im not here to agrue with you on Texrx's thread.

The price is 3k. 4k was listed for the jews out there. Ive had offers for 3 already as ive stated so thats what im getting i told u 3 and sell the engine on your own motor or no motor 3000. So its not a gutted roller. But good luck hope u find the car your looking for clearly its not mine. Thanks
