I guess there's not too many fast cars in Reno, heh. hehe. If your going to bastardize the rx3 or even a colt, might as well put a v8 in it. You can build a mild Chevy smallblock 350 and put it in there and run 9's for less money than a jap 4 banger turbo setup that runs 11's.

So, Doc. What are you planning on putting in the rx3?

lol bastardize. you do know that my colt is the original mitsu galant right? and that the motor i put in it is also a mitsu motor? would it break your heart to find out that the motor literally bolted right in? why would i "bastardize" the car to bolt a v8 in it? so i can daily drive it? oh no that would throw the weight distribution all off. i can make more power with the motor i have in it than most v8s out there with power adders. you didnt seem to read the part where my car ran 11.2 on pump gas and low boost. that was also its first shakedown pass ever. so dont go trying to belittle anything because you have no clue what your talking about. you stick to your beloved rotary grenades and ill stick to my 6 second proven motor. agreed?

6 second proven motor wow you must be talking about Brent Rau and his eclipse. Which he has only done it once. And who was sandbagging forever because he knew the weight advantage he had and the power he was making. Hell he even tried to enter his car in the modified class in NHRA and they denied him because his car didn't fit the class and would have had to run with the Pro class. Where is he now? NOPI running against V8's getting his *** kicked. Why don't you take a look at this list http://ausrotary.dntinternet.com/for...ic.php?t=46604 wow grenades seems like they can't get down the track. Please just because those around you can't seem to keep the motors together doesn't mean others can't.

No sweat off my back. I actually like Brent Rau's ride I've got quite a few video clips of it including that 6 second pass. Including a pass in which he spanks the hell out of Dee Kariganis RX7. You've got me all wrong brother just because I'm a rotary guy doesn't mean I don't respect other engines. I'm a true drag racing fan and anything fast I can respect. The clock doesn't lie a 8 second pass is a 8 second pass doesn't matter what it is it is still impressive. I'm no Sherlock Holmes I just follow the drag racing scene it's what I like and what interest me. Hey your engine bay pics are nice I like the workmanship very clean and tidy. Props to you and continued success. I personally like the 2.6Mitsu motors http://www.sakuramotorsports.com/ one of my personal favorites and I've seen it run in person. They are now moving up to a 3.5 motor from a Montero. This is my last post on this thread sorry for turning it into ****.

Stick with the rotary. I blew up 10 engines with my tuning and only 360-370 hp. I finally gave in and paid Steve Kan to tune my old car and it made 533whp the first time and 603 whp the second time. He's a great tuner and well worth the money.

I'll have him tune my next car.

its actually a 2.4. designated G4CS. its a hyundai block with the DOHC head. wiseco pistons, eagle rods, forced performance cams etc. mitsu made all of hyundais motors when they first started. i went with the 2.4 cause its different and makes alot more torque for street driving. which is funny cause i dont daily drive it anyways, i got off on the wrong foot here. im the same as you guys. i appreciate anything thats fast. i would never own a rotary for the simple fact thaty i dont know anything about them. i dont like v8 cause i dont have a mullet. j/k. im a huge fan of LS1 FDs. if i ever get rid of the colt that would be my next project for sure.

hers a good vid of the colt. i ran another 11.2 on this pass but i let off mid track. you can hear it if you turn the sound up lol.

not true. i started watching this yesterday and it's been, well ... entertaining. anyway, i doubt if you would allow someone into your house and smile as they proceeded to pull their fly and **** on your living room carpet. i think 13BTNOS has kept everything clean, fair and above the belt and still made his point (which is the truth, by the way). and in fairness to your friend, LILHEMI, i think he has made it clear that it's his opinion on rotaries - as opposed to those that state opinions as facts. so i think the exchange, though pointless (neither one is going to yield).

personally, i think you should stick with the rotary in the Rx-3, but the bottomline is it's your car, thus, your decision. if you're to sore bout rotaries though, then i've learned to respect that, too, over time. frustration is fine and so is cutting your losses and moving on, but it's not because rotaries are fragile and faulty. either way, good luck and keep us up to date on the Rx-3.

I guess that means you can put a Mercedes engine in it now too since MB bought out Chrysler. LOL

Anyways, sorry for derailing and argueing, but it bothers me alot when you, who are not an obvious Mazda rotary fan, come onto this site and bash rotaries. I'm not going over to Mitsu forums and bashing on their stuff. You have been bashing Doc's car since he's had it. I think it's amazing how a 1.3, heck a 1.2 liter 2cylinder engine can produce so much horsepower. Your engine is almost twice the displacement and these rotaries can produce just as much horsepower if not more. So if you don't like rotaries and have nothing good to say about them, then why do you frequent these forums? Earlier I told you that I liked your colt and that it was, "tight". I can respect a fast car and a good engine install and setup and you did a great job as I can see in the pics. I'm just not fan of people putting other brand engines in cars, especially rotaries. And I didn't want Doc to give up on the Rotary, because you have to admit it is one amazing engine like it or not. Peace out.

Well doc, I am in the pretty much same boat as you. But I have worked so hard on the car and spent so much money, to get rid of the rotary now would be going back on everything I worked so hard for. So many people telling me to put in piston motors, but when it comes down to it I really do love how a rotary engine works and I love how they sound.

Please take the advice LUPE gave you.

and I might have to give steve kan a call (if I get my car running next week lol).

Read the beginning of the thread. I was just busting your ***** back and somehow it got out of hand a little. Look at it this way. Look at all the hits the thread got. At least we entertained the club for a while. This "other rotary thread" was getting pretty boring there for awhile anyway. No harm done to any side, it's all good bro. They'll be plenty of other times to spank your little Mitsu. so make sure you frequent these forums ya hear.
