Hey LILHemi, you sure give poor old DocHoliday a hard time. What do you have that's so fast? From your username I would guess to say that you have a little inline 4 banger doing high 12's or something? You sure like to come over to the Mazda forums alot. Time to get away from the darkside and join the force. hehe

Hemis old colt is pretty cool. Low 11's on low boost and pump gas so far.

Yeah, it looks pretty cool. Needs some paint though. Hey Doc, are you planning on getting rid of the rx3 and rotary power? If so, Don't do it. Put a well built 13bt in it and smoke that little colt.

Why is that? I thought I read from your rx3 thread that you had a plugged fuel filter? How can you blame a rotary for that? Nitrous and a plugged fuel filter or improperly set airfuel mixture, timing, etc, will grenade any engine. Whatever you do don't bastardize your rx3 by putting a v8 or some other engine in it. If you want a fast v8, then go one up on your buddy Hemi and buy a colt and put a v8 in it. One of my buddies did that and the car was a daily driver and laid 9-10 second passes down the 1/4. Just my .02

lol. just know that the car will be wicked fast with the new setup. id kill him if he went back to the rotary. its been 3 freakin years since he put the car together so it wasnt just the filter being clogged. ive watched josh (doc) go through and endless amount fo **** trying to get this setup to work. i salute him for his perseverance for so long but everyo man has his limit. he reached his so please dont bust his ***** for it. a jap 4 banger is going in and be happy with that knowledge.

He can easily smoke you with a properly set up 13bt and if he put a 20bt then forget about it. It takes alot of know how to properly set a rotary up and make it reliable, I won't argue with that. It's definetely not a cheap powerplant to make reliable. You have to be willing to spend some money to do it right. I don't know Doc's mechanic-tuning abilities, but it seems like he had more problems than he should have. Rotaries just don't blow up for no reason. And NOS is not a reliable means for any engine. Whatever he decides to do I wish him the best of luck.

i usually don't like rotaries myself, but just for the preservation and authenticity factor, rotaries are perfectly fine in the old school RX chassis.

if the old school RX cars weren't so rare to begin with, i would've gone with an all motor chevy LS7 (corvette z06) swap for the RX-4.

but in the end of the day, it's still each to their own.

Not sure what you mean by, "Your level", but your running low 11's right? Very respectable. But there are plenty of all motor 13b non turbo's running 10's. With the power to weight ratio in a gutted rx3 drag car, it doesnt take a whole lot of horsepower to get it moving. You should know about that with your little colt. Put 300 horsepower in car that weighs less than 2000lbs and you'll be moving. And it's not that difficult to get 300+ horses out of a 13bt. Skies the limit depending on your budget. How much horsepower are you putting to the wheels on your colt? I'm not trying to degrade your car in anyway. I think your colt is tight. I'm just saying that one can make a rx3 with a rotary just as fast if not faster with relative ease. Look at all the Puerto Rican rotaries-SICK! I'm building a rx2 street/strip as we speak. Going to put a well built 13bt in it. I will show you some timeslips when I'm done. I bet I can compete at your level and drive my car to the track. lol

You talk like a big fish in a small pond. Why don't you come out to the big ocean and play with the big boys if your soo confident. Eleven second rides are dime a dozen in my neck of the woods so get of your high horse. I know you and Josh are buds but the **** that comes out of your post just stinks. And your car is nice and all I have to say it's one of my favorite body's especially that it is a Mopar but it doesn't really impress me. Shove a real Hemi in it like a 426, like how they use to back in the days and that might actually impress me.

Anything can go fast with any motor. I thought we all learned that 10 years ago when Hondas got fast. Its all about what you ENJOY building. Oh, and there will ALWAYS be someone faster, so there is no use arguing about it.
