Datsun Roadster

Here are a few pics of my Datsun that's near completion. Thanks to the guys at Evil Genius Racing in West Sacto who are handling the swap and to the infamous Wackster for the jetting advice! I've taken it out for a couple of spins and lets just say it's a "bit" quicker with the 12a than it was with the 96 hp 1600 boat anchor!

That must be a blast- Lighter weight, engine weight moved aft, bitchin sound, no emissions, doesn't 'need' a turbo to move out, simple, etc.... There are 3 of these parked in a yard right by my house that I could get for a song. I've got at least 2 engines worth of parts and several 5 speeds . Hmmmm........

Awesome build! I considered using one of these roadsters for a future project build, but all the ones I could get were just too rusty.

Thanks! The cars are out there and they really haven't increased much in value (other than the 67.5 2000 models) which is good for me! I can count the number of Roadsters that I've seen in town, and I've be here a long time, on two hands yet they're always popping up on craigslist.

I love those things, but they only seem to be in Cali.

This is one of the few times, that I would be a purist though.
I believe it needs a Nissan Powerplant. Perhaps an SR20?

I am sure it's nice to drive with the 12A though.

SR20s, both na and turbo, have found their way into quite a few of these and probably would have made a lot more sense but I've never been accused of having much common sense! A buddy and I were talking about cars back in 80 or 81 when we were in college (yeah, I'm older than Wacky) and he wanted a 2.8 V6 from a Capri to swap into a Fiat 124 spider and I wanted a rotary Datsun. Go forward 30 years and I finally have what I wanted (though I'd like to get back into 2 stroke bikes...) and he sold his 911 last year and has a Fiat sitting in his garage so it's been a long time coming!

I feel that you should relocate the battery away from the carb. That **** gives me goosebumps. other than that, it is a nice install.
