Daily driven RX?

These little 70s beauties are starting to grow on me, but I got a few questions: Could one of these make a good daily driver? I heard that the gas mileage on a carb'd rotary is pretty bad, is this true? These things pretty reliable when well maintained?

Thanks for the help guys.

Had my 76 Rx4 since 78 and it had gotten me through some real bad times when I had no pot to **** in. yep 13mpg and now with all the mods it's about 10 mpg or less and some times 1/4 mi at a time.

Rx-4 economy will suffer due to the heavier weight of that car, expect better economy from the light weight cars, R100, Rx-2, Rx-3. The piston variations can of course be converted if you can get them. 1300, 616, 808.
My Rx-7 (1st gen) is heavier than these and had ok milage, definately better than 13mpg but it is a very slippery shape.

Someone coming from a 2nd gen Rx-7 would be moving into a lighter car with an Rx-4. I think an Rx-4 or Rx-3 with a fuel injected naturally aspirated 13b would make a reliable and classy daily driver.
