Curious about starting buttons on the RX3?
This is now the 3rd RX3 I have come across with a starting button in exactly the same spot (including my 73 coupe) - Seems like mo
re than a coincidence? Anyone have any thoughts of knowledge on this?

Correct me if i'm wrong because i don't know much about electronics and stuff but i assume they have been fitted there numerous times by various because they need to use the power from the ciggarette lighter(just above and to the right). and this might have been the best spot to put the starting button without destroying too much of the original dash and to get it as close as possible to the cig lighter, among other reasons, maybe

ha! they've put the button smack in the middle of the rotor symbol on the 'rotary engine' plaque.
i guess it seemed like an aesthetically pleasing location to put it, 'hit the rotor to start the rotary engine..'
my first car was a 77 honda civic wagon with a push button starter that someone had slotted in to the dash. thankfully next to the ignition lock. cheap fix for when the ignition barrel fails.
