Crappy lookin RX-2 NO MORE!!!

Thought I would post some photos of my "crappy lookin Rx-2" Can't say that anymore as it has just emerged from the paint shop and is lookin mighty fine. The car is totally stock right down to the original factory motor, rubber floor mats and orginal tires. Everything works from the electric antenna to the "key reminder buzzer". The paint and bodywork was done by "Cosmo Guy" Glenn Roberts and the mechanicals done by Chris Greene. Thanks guys!
Once the chrome, stainless and body stripe are applied it should look even better!

Two Cosmos of the same year...1967. The complete car was in a national magazine last year(Motor Trend Classics). The other Cosmo is currently under a ground up restoration.

Thats correct! Not my Cosmos (wish they were though). What you also don't see and tucked in a corner of the garage is a fully restored 1964 Mazda R360 coupe with rare left hand drive! This was Mazdas first passenger car with a V2 16 Hp engine. Talk about a damned "Mini Mazda Museum"!

Hi Dwayne,

here are two shots of the car when i purchased it in 1983. The car was complete but needed most everything redone. The car quit running in 1977 when the engine overheated. The original owner told me that the temp guage had not worked for some time and he didn"t realize the engine was running hot. As you know, a working temp guage is crucial for a rotary. The car was parked behind his sons business after that. I had known about the car for about a year before I purchased the car but was looking for something that actually ran. Running R100s seemed to by selling for as high as $3000 even then. I was looking for something below $1000. That sounds stupid now! Most mechanical parts were still available through Mazda back then and even some trim parts. The quality of the photos is not great as this was before digital.

Thanks, Dwayne

Hi Dwayne,

Actually I have never entertained thoughts of ever selling her. I have owned it for over 23 years and I think we're together for the duration. Every owner of a R100 who has sold their car has regretted doing so. They are pretty unique and get a lot of looks when on the road. They are really tiny cars, kind of a 2/3rds Rx-2. Driving it is unlike any car I have ever owned. Car has a 10A engine that still runs well even after 23 years. Photos: It does not have the funky plastic hubcaps but has the original ones installed presently.

Beautifull cars John. As beautifull as the Rx2 is though, the Cosmos are stealing your thunder I believe that the dismantled Cosmo is the one that lives here in Mesa Az. I got to see that car before the dismantling got started with some of the RCCAZ guys. If you're ever down in Phoeix again look me up. I'll buy ya a beer or something.

So if someone took a Cosmo and did "restore" it but not to factory equipment. (like lets say a T78 20B) how many of you guys on the forum would want to kill him? (no i dont have a Cosomo, no i dont plan on getting one and putting a 20B in just wondering)
