Chrome Window Trim Removal
Anyone have any tips on removing the chrome window trim around the windows? I don't want to ruin them if I pry them off. Is there are clips that hold the trim in place and can I re-use the existing ones?

RX-2? If so they come off fairly easy, I used an awl with a 45 degree bend in the end. You gotta run it along the bottom inside edges of the trim until you hit one of the clips (unless you have the clip locations memoried). Push them forward slightly and they'll release the trim piece. It can be kind of a pain, but once you get the tool right it's not bad. The clips do tend to rust, but I remember reading somewhere on here that Mazda had made a plastic version of them. Not sure if you can still get them though, anyone know?

Yes, an RX-2. So it sounds like you have to contact the clip for it to release. Do you think I can get the same result with a putty knife? And when you say inside edge, do you mean the glass side?

Personally, I gently gripped my chrome with both hands, and rolled my palms upward, like you're trying to rotate the trim to be level with the roof. I was able to twist one end free, then work the other. Going back and forth, they just popped off with no damage, so long as you go slowly. The door window strips have tabs bent on the backside, so you're best off getting the felt out (every one of mine fell into pieces) so you can look between the outer door skin and the window. You'll see the tabs front and rear that you'll need to massage.
