Brake booster for RX-2 / Success!!

Well my car has been in the garage for two weeks now because of a bad brake booster!!

Posted a Thread, someone said they had modified a RX-7 unit and that they would tell me how to do it- then never responded, probably didn't modify one. So, I search the wonderful internet looking for one, couldn't find one. Then I go to PEP BOYS of all places and they have a part # for it, special order $137.00! Be here in a week. A week and a half later---part comes--same size--vacuum hook-up is to the side, no big problem--i'm happy--go home-- take bad booster off--compare--the holes that go through the firewall on the new booster are 3/4 of an inch long(instead of 2 1/2) and in the wrong place--return the part!

To make a very long story short, I spoke with the guys at A.R.I ( the place PEP BOYS got the wrong unit from) and they told me they could rebuild my original unit if I sent it in. It would be done the same day. A.R.I. doesn't deal with the public so I had to go back to a PEP BOYS and purchase the Booster, then I shipped my Booster to A.R.I. w/ reciept and instructions to R+R my Booster. They did and returned the rebuilt booster next day air to Pep Boys.

Works great!!! all new internals!!

I hope my suffering can save someone theirs! American Remanufacturers incs numbers is 1-800-350-2234. They don't deal with the public so go somewhere that does ( they can give you that information. ) and have them ship it for you. Their in Anahiem,CA i'm in MD =)

Hope this helps.

I am really happy to hear about your success. How much did it cost to have it rebuilt? Can they do RX2 brake master cylinders? I have 2 that need rebuilt.

You can modify your front hydralic line and use one from an RX-3 - you can get them from Schucks with a warranty for around $50.

I'll post some pictures of my setup in the next couple of weeks.

Thats just nuts..
I paid 120 for a brake master cylinder, and a clucth master cylinder. They were both new never used.
I got them both from a guy on ebay. I have also seen them on www.nopi.com also
