Thx both.
Toyo Kogyo: Yes its a 12A. I tried to keep it as close to the original as possible (Point ignition etc...). And it is more reliable for regurality rallies. 10A in Greece is non existent! But thru internet I managed to get many parts. As soon as I start the 10A project (... and I will!) I ll PM you.

Nice to see someone driving a Cosmo the way it was intended!!! Stay in touch, and best of luck. Glen Roberts (car owner) started a global Cosmo registry a couple of years back. Have you contacted him and are you on his list?? If not, let me know and I can put the two of you in contact with each other.

Thanks RCAAZ1... Sorry I didnt read the thread from page 1 and I thought it was your car. Anyway keep up with the good job.
Emblem: No its not the original. I found it from the local importer 25 years ago. I have no idea from which model it is. 8 years ago a friend in Japan found me the original rotor emblem but it was expensive (I thnik $200) but I was so stupid not to buy it. I regret this so if you (or Glen) can find one spare I will be happy to buy it.
I know Glen Roberts' registry and yes, I am registered there. I will be happy to be in touch with you & Glen.

1966 Mazda Rotary 10A Engine - COMPLETE & VERY RARE !!!

TERMS:
1) There is no NO WARRANTY or GUARANTEE implied or given.
2) I am selling this item as is and where it is.
PAYMENT:
1) Cash preferred, Money Order is OK.
SHIPPING:
1) I can deliver for free in the SF Peninsula and east of San Mateo.
2) I can crate and ship in USA & Canada via truck freight. The cost is around $500.

RCCAZ 1 you have a magnificent car. I bet it is in better shape than when it first came of the assembly line. Very nice and I cant help but notice your painstaking hard work to keep a classic as it should. It sends shivers down my body knowing that there are dedicated people with great homes for these cars. Keep up the good work and thank all of your help. Just one request: Film your first engine start up of the car and then post it on the forum for everyone to experience the beast awakening.

Thank you BASTARD (funny user name...). I saw this ad last Thursday and I already reserved it from the seller. I also have a quote for shipping, so I will fulfil my dream getting an original 10A motor. Now overhauling it is another story... But I ll keep you posted.
RCCAZ1: You are right, there are some differences, I think horsepower (100 instead of 110)due to different intake, carb & exhaust header but the block is the same. I will upgrade with 48 Webber & RB anyway. So even if there are some slight differences... I dont care much. I ll be hapy to implant to the car its original engine-type.
Right now with the 12A on, it drives & sound beautifuly. So I am sure with the 10A it will be even better.

I can shed some light on the aircleaner stickers! There is a resto shop north of Tokyo called "Garage Star Field" and they sell reproduction air cleaner stickers as well as other Cosmo parts. I'm thinking Glenn paid around $100 for the aircleaner stickers. Two other Cosmo owners also purchased sets while I was there. They also rebuild original 10A engines and do mechanical and cosmetic restos. There were around 8 -10 Cosmos waiting for service at this place. They also keep one of the Lemans racers here.

Although I own a Cosmo I have to admit that I am not a 10A spacialist. So I guess that the R100 is the left motor while the Cosmo-motor is the right one. Here I have a small notice to make. Glen's Cosmo is a L10B (1968-72 with 125 hp) and thus the different angle in the distributors. Mine is a 1967 (only 343 cars built with 110hp) and my original motor (L10A) was closer to the R100 than the L10B.
I think you are right about the aluminum plates...
Still I think its better to put an upgraded 10A in my car than the (beautiful) 12A I wear now. However, any suggestion is welcome!

Mike.... the left motor is the Cosmo Sport 10a, right engine is the proper 10a for the R100. Either way is fine, albiet the 10a is MUCH harder to find parts for if you break anything versus the 12a motor. Good luck with whatever path you decide to pursue.

Really? (so embarassed...!)
I think you are right. I post an old photo from the 1968 racing Cosmo motor of Nurburgring. The distributors look the same as the left motor.
I also made a mistake regarding Glenns Cosmo. It is a L10A not a 10B as I thought.
You are also right that the 10a is MUCH harder to find parts for if you break anything versus the 12a motor. I have decided that when I install the 10A (...in 2-3 yrs or so...) then there will no more racing with the Cosmo. I already use the RX7 in most of the rallies. It's not that fun but the SA is also a nice car to drive...
Thanks for the info exchange and sorry for the off-topic...

Usually 6mm one piece on all types of 10a's, and you could also run a 2 piece seal (I have the 2-piece 10a ones in my motor). Provides great starting (was originally used for people in the colder parts of the world).

Man that thing is BEAUTIFUL! I had seen pics of the early Cosmo's and I didn't really care for them until I looked through your posts. Sexy! I love the attention to detail.

OK.... we're past March 1st and I received these pics from Glenn last weekend. He should be close to completing the interior by now. Note the original NOS rear deck lid speakers that he received from a contact in Japan. These were original equipment in the '67 Cosmo Sport. Absolutely incredible. I'll check with him to see if he has any additional new pics. Should be ready to fire her up soon.
