badge identification

just helping a friend out try to identify an old mazda.
apparently the car is rusted into the ground so no photos of the body.
this is the only photo i have, im assuming its the steering wheel.

ive been scouring through parts lists and google images for a couple of hours now and i have no leads. any help is greatly appreciated!

Hey Targa, Are those wheels in the first pic yours? Would you consider parting with either of the RX-3 wheels? I want a GT wheel but the stock wheel looks in great condition so interested in taking that off your hands as well.
