Alternators that fit 12a block

Wanting to upgrade the alternator on my RX3. Tried an S4, bit it does not directly mount to the block.

Anybody find a direct bold up alternator to a 12a?

Anybody find an alternator with internal regulator that is a direct bold to a 12a block, who would share that information on this web site in this thread now?

isn't it just a question of using the right sized spacer? a S4 unit should work.

I have a 3rd gen alt on my REPU. It is just a matter of proper spacing. I used washers. No big deal. Really puts out the amperage.

No its a single dizzy.

I understand that the s4 works with the bracket! The S4 alternator is too small to fit the original mounting spot on the 12a(again without the bracket), so spacers are not the solutuon.

I'm trying to fit an alternator in the same style as the RX3 original was without a bracket (the bracket would move the alternator farther away from the block). I was wanting to get away from an external regulator and I was trying to get an alternator that if it died I could replace it easily.

I could use the old RX3 alternator, but then I'd have an external regulator. I could use an old Datsun alternator I have, that does fit, but then it could be a problem replacing it if it died.

I guess I'll head off to Lordco and NAPA and pester them until I find a good old GMC, Ford or Mopar with an internal regulator that will do the trick.

Thanks anyway!

Although I cant prove it but I think you're just lazy to search. this topic has been covered many times in the old school and first gen sections.
