Alternate fuel source for rots

Has anyone heard of a rotary running off of an alterenate fuel? I heard the guys down at sipex have been working on a engine that runs off of sugar thats plucked from the fields of east CA. They have alterenated the source into a pure menthanol and are having mpgs in the high 20's.. wtf this is crazy if its true! let me know if uve heard anything bout this..

i was interested in this as well i started a thread in the engine section asking a couple things, it would be nice to pay 73 cents a gallon equialent for fuel.
