#27
my friend the owner of the truck bought some 16" epsilon mesh wheels, rear are 16x8 and fronts are 16x7.we installed the rear with 225-55-16 used tires to see how it looks.now he needs to order the front 5 lug brake kit from tony so we can install the fronts.

Little update.I thought I let you guys know that today we took off the front spindle from the truck and sending it out tomorrow to tony from the racing store so he can do the front brake kit for it.we are doing the big brakes with vented rotors and we decided to to the rear as well for the the 8.8" Ford explorer rear end.so when I update again it will be rolling on all full pro comp racing store braking system 5lug front big brakes and and also big brakes for the rear.Dammm its not my truck and I think I'm more excited than my friend is lol.

Very nice build! Those Eps. are just sick on there! Same plans I had, but never got around to sending Tony some spindles to mock off of. Kinda hard to do when my REPU is my daily driver. Ask Tony if he'll do a group buy cuz Max and I are interested. Thanks.

I talked to tony earlier today and he said normally the big brake kit with vented rotors goes for $895 but since its the first time doing a repu it was going to cost an extra $80-$100.the rears are going to be $685 for the Ford explorer big bearing 8.8 rear end,so we are looking at around $1700.we are sending out the spindle on Friday cause today i got busy working on the house and didnt have time.he has the rear in stock and we just have to wait a few weeks for the fronts to get machined and fabbed up,now I got to see what I'm going to do about booster and master cylinder,or maybe no booster and a bigger bore master.I got to do some studying to figure that out but its ok I got a few weeks for that.

Tony said to check clearance when using 15" and 16" wheels because depending on the type of rims your using, it might not clear. Just an FYI. Thanks for the info.

Yeah we discussed all this but he also told me that the non vented but drilled slotted thick rotor was only for drag racing use and not ideally for street cause of the disc warping.anyway he did tell me most 15" wheels won't fit and that there is a 1/2" overhang of the 4 piston caliper from the hub.but its all good the epsilon wheels we got on the truck are 16" and we have plenty of room for the wheel to play with in front.I also had the same discussion with him when I got the big vented brake kit for my rx2.at first I had got the usual thick rotor that's drilled but I had to send it back to him when he explained to me that if the car was going to see alot of street use that the rotor had a good chance of warping cause of the heat.either way it turns out good cause the stock rotors are solid and work well.....why shouldn't any of these kits.if anyone goes with the bigger and vented like we did sacrifices 15" wheels but 16" also look real good on these trucks so its all good either way.

talking head
great thread mate,, makes us aussies very jealous of the rotor ute we should have got,, but didnt
all that front end fruit looks soo nice
i was impressed with the freshed front end in the first page, but that stuff you have now is just spastic
-over here we struggle for any parts for the older mazda/ford utes
( we get the narrow body version of that body till 1985 )
i built up one of these with a 13b6p turbo ( on LPG , pics around somewhere )
and i would have just about rowed over to collect the sort of goodies you have under there

Ok so finally after a few problems with the rear brakes they are finally on the truck.the original rear brakes the racing store sent me didnt fit so we had to send them back but for some reason got lost in the process.for around 3 weeks the package was nowhere to be found and finally usps found our package and delivered it to aerospace components.so now got the new brakes and they fit perfect.we also bought a 11/8 master cylinder that was recommended by aerospace and have to figure out how to install it.most likely a adapter plate of some sort.
Heres the pics of the rear brakes installed and of the master cylinder.
