77 repu build

well for the past couple months i have been putting a repu together for a friend,we are doing a 13b TII motor,s5 lim with fd uim, turbo II transmission,t-66 turbonetics ball bearing turbo, turbonetics 55mm wastegate, front mount intercooler, etc.here are pics of the truck from when we first got it.

lim had to be modded a bit so it can fit the fd uim, also so it can hold four bosch style injectors in a row.

i ported the uim a bit for the rotary-works 90mm TB

fuel system

engine management

i used the rotary-works rx2 radiator with custom mounting,rotary-works fb oil cooler, a dual fan set up from summit racing.fans are for the scirrocco style radiator

this is where i decided to put the intercooler

so the truck can handle the horsepower we decided to put a 8.8 explorer rear end,we got it shorten so it can fit on the truck.

this is how it turned out

this is when we mocked up most of the engine parts

we are currently working on the complete front suspension and this is what we got and have done so far.

driver side

and passenger side not done yet.

more pictures of the engine bay as it sits now.

so far the truck starts but needs some more tunning, engine was pushed back about an inch from stock.i did the shifter mod on the turbo trans so it got shortened about 4 inches so it can sit closer to the stock shifter opening.
exhaust is a full 3" with 2 racing beat universal mufflers, one mid truck and the other towards the rear.truck sound really good and not loud at all.for the brakes i am running the ford explorer stock brakes out back, front are the stocks for now, second gen master cylinder with line lock for front brakes, adjustable proportion for the rear brakes.this is for now for the brake system,we are going to get the front brake kit custom made from the racing store so that we can convert it to 5 lug just like the rear,we are also getting the rears for the 8.8 rear end at the racing store for better brake power in the future.

From what I hear is that the fd uim flows better than the tII uim,but never ran this set up before this is my first time, the injector idea was so I can just run one fuel rail and not two,it seems to be alright, even though the primary injectors are higher up it still idles fine.

Very nice work. That truck is going to be fast and it looks like it's going to hook up too with the rearend and slicks. I've always wanted to see a pro street looking Repu with Weld Draglites. What's the width on the wheels? 8"? Is Tony from The Racing Store already working on the front 5 lug kit or is that something you still have to look into? Just wondering because another forum member and I are going to have him do a batch for us but we need like 5 kits to get a decent price. Keep up the good work and keep the pics coming.

They are 8" weld draglites with 26x10 slicks,I did talk to Tony from the racing store and he told me to send in the stock spindle from the truck so that he can make the brake kit for it.first I'm going to get the truck running good on the street then I will deal with the front brakes,Tony told me it might take a month or two to make the kit,so that means it's going to sit on jack stands for that long.but if all goes well we will be doing that within 2 months.I'm also getting a rear brake kit from him for the 8.8 rear.

^i will get the measurements for you, there is really not much room for a larger intercooler I had to go to my local intercooler supplier a couple times before I got the perfect size.I had to cut the bumper brackets so it can clear piping.as for the driveway, imaging pulling out and putting in motors on cars with all them cracks on the floor and it's uphill.eventually I will repave my driveway and to the side of it,I have an extra two cars parked there but it's dirt.

well just got back from the dyno, the truck put close to 400 horsepower at 18# of boost.we are more than happy with the outcome.the only bad thing is that the primary injectors being so high up was giving us problems so we had to put them back in the stock location in the center iron.another bad thing was that the damm dyno wouldnt hold or record the run to prove the numbers.i will post pics later, couldnt get a video camera to record the pulls either.but it will sure make it to sevenstock the way it is now.
