According to Roger at University Mazda, they were simply appearance packages. He said they didn't make very many at all, and the luggage rack is super rare. As far as the traction bars or steering stabilizer, no evidence of any of that on my car, although there are brackets on the rearend housing that had me puzzled. Nothing connected to them.

Also posting on the JNC site, and got some info that the diff mount is for a panhard bar that the european cars got. Will look into what that was, but info on these is SCARCE. ANY and ALL help is appreciated!
Here's a few shots of the nastiest rust I've found so far. Always lurking out of site.
Just started putting up a storage mezzanine to get the shelving and all the parts and pieces out of the way. Tired of having to work around/move/be afraid of damaging all the stuff I've got in work. Will be putting in the floor soon, with the walkway between them, shelving all around, and have a drop down ships ladder on the left side. Needed to happen for a long time-Finally pulling the trigger and getting organized.

Look forward to seeing them... Are they like traction bars, fitting underneath the forward end of the leaf? Never heard of a steering stabilizer for any Mazda, less some aftermarket 4WD part.

here's picture of the litte rear end bars, not sure what they would actually be described as by factory ...
did not get a shot of the front end stabiizer yet ... but i will, i actually had another car that also had the front end stabilizer on it, so i am pretty sure it is/was factory installed

Again, looking forward to seeing those stabilizers! Thanks Kenny.
Mezzanine progress- All framed and about 80% sheeted(pics were from 1st day, spent today out there, so its farther along). I love the feeling of progress, no matter which project I'm working on. Need to re-engineer the trusses so I can can go through without ducking, finish the sheet rock, wire in power and switches for the lights underneath the platforms, build the mezz walls, design and build the drop down ladder.... etc. Are we EVER done?

Thanks, Kenny. I'll have to look again.
Still plugging away on the shop..... circuit re-routing done, lights in, now getting going on the sheet rock. I don't like doing sheet rock, but it will only make the shop better and lighter, and help keep the heat in. I know won't regret it.

Everything is on hold.... Spoke to the steel building guy know, and he says to NOT put up any sheet rock, because the original installer didn't lay vapor barrier under the roof sheets. Says the sheetrock will soak up all the moisture and come down eventually. So, this summer, I will get up there with my son, pull a few runs of roofing off, lay down the vapor barrier, and re-install, hopsotching along from one end to the other. Will be better in the long run, but it totally bumps the schedule around. Oh well, I can still work on the access ladder, roof truss re-design(so I can walk through easier), as well as the 510, the Rx2, and the DD civic swap, not to mention the honey-do list.
Dammit.
Dammit.

There was one like you're tracking down that was offered for sale in mid 2009. I lost the old pictures of it. I wonder if it's the same one.
... from Federal Way in 2009:
The rx4 has bad rust at the lower front windshield and lower rear quarters, may have some on front floor pan but trunk is good and nose is good, it has the big bumpers, has a roll cage, maybe a 2 point ?, not a 5 point so it can be used or removed, console is beat and needs a few dash parts, the hood is still good but is getting the typical rust on the underside and needs to have the tach welds popped to properly restore it.
Here's a pic of my 74 RX4 GTR; Pearl White and Black/Gold metal flake.

Who'd a thunk that some'thin on the internet would get reused without permission?

I saw the stripes a long time ago searching ebay, and discussed it with the guy- Told him I didn't care. Why would I? If he can scrape a few bucks off someone who is interested in giving their 74 Rx4 the GTR treatment, I have no problem with it. There's no permission to acquire, at least from us. I especially have nothing to say about it, since the pics were taken before I acquired the car. The guy is on the JNC site, and is very enthusiastic about the old school rotaries, so as far as I'm concerned, I give it my blessing. Its not like someone couldn't find the pics we've posted, and paint them themselves. I'll probably grab a set, just to save time doing the layout myself!

And as far as any project(s) progress goes, forget it. I'm working 12+ hr days/7 days a week, and have started the Civic eng/auto to manual swap, and all I've been able to do is stroll past that. Sucks....

Update- at least on the shop.
Saw the forecast of nice weather last week and decided I'd better get the vapor barrier done. May be on a long repair soon, and may not get another opportunity (YouTube ANA hard landing 767-that's what we are going to fix) until its too late. About 3/4 done.
1st pic is where my big cat fell through to the concrete-where the insulation is hanging. About 16 feet. He's ok.
Roof shots show the process: Pull 2 roof panels, roll out the 6mil sheeting, staple, re attach 1 panel, pull the next one, roll plastic, staple, re-install , pull the next..... Slow process, but has to happen before any interior stiff can go forward. At least its moving forward...
Anyone hear from John Smack? He's fallen off the face of the earth. Can't get a hold of him...

Got an opportunity to get a good deal on the sheetrock for the shop-140 sheets. Ugh. They are stacked and awaiting my willingness to get busy... which may not come until the weather is complete crap. Someday my rotary cars will menace the roads around here.....
