When was the last time this motor ran? I take it its a 12a? Pour some oil down the carb and turn the motor over by hand a few times before you try to fire her up.

I have a 73 RX3 motor, I believe they are the same, is yours a twin dizzy?

The motor originaly came with 6 mm apex seals. I understand the old seals can be brittle. The front cover can be changed to the 81-84 RX7 elctronic distributor cover to get away from the points ignition.

Parts for the 12a are getting to be hard to find. You will not know the condition of the housings and irons until its stripped down!

You can only do a mild street port on your side plates. If you cut too deep you'll cut into the water jacket.

I have a 1973 twin dizzy for sale it has 42,000 original miles on the motor I rebuilt it and replaced the 6mm rotors with 2mm 1983 12a rotors. The motor is not ported but runs like a champ. I pulled it out of my Rx2 and replaced it with my race motor. A 1989 turbo 13B. I'm selling it if your intrested. Give me a call 973 390 0102.
Luis.
