wow I thought my carb was really running rich. it was just the premix I used, I mixed it wayyyyyyy to rich. Put new gas and premixed it just right. It goes like a scalded dog now. This thing pulls to 7k and just smokes the tires like crazy. The neighbors thought I was racing motor cycles up and down the road again.

I put my monsterous side bars on also, they need painted, but look good. need to get the interior going now. 2 rear fiberglass bucket seats going in soon. all the little **** adds up. I will throw down some pics asap.

I need a fpr for a turbo, and a larger fuel pump. I have a turbo and might be able to do the custom manifold for it. It is a extra 300zx turbo from a 1985 300zx. I hope it will be about the right size. I can always be faster......right?

I have been driving it around town(vancouver) for a few days. I had my supertrapp just tac welded on and it shot off the other day(probably around 7500rpm cause I didn't hear it come off) . havent raced anything to powerful yet but it feels like a mid 14 sec car. Don't forget I am running a bus tranny and some big heavy tires and wheels on the rear. I don't have a speedo either, I don't think I will run one unless I get a gps and then I will use that.

got the rear seats and rear seat structure made also. now I need to finish the seat belts and the 4 point harnesses in the front. then I can take the kids out for some rotary fun.

well I decided to step up and turbo the 12a. I already did the homemade rising rate FPR. cut off old exhaust from homemade flang. welded up the custom manifold, just need the turbo flang(its being made by a friend. its a ugly but good turbo that I have.

I did some cutting on the bug to mount the oil cooled under the engine air vent, under the window. I will probably hook up a cooling fan to blow on it by a temp sensor.

Hey matt the 914 is a perfect canidate for a conversion. mid engine, the brakes are already up to par. the new vette engines are even being used. I would go for a monster 13bt if I had the cheese.

You can put them in without cutting the rear apron(piece under the lid), but I would cut it and use fasteners to hold it on. I have seen pretty clean removable rear aprons.

That intake is for sale $55 and its yours, thats with shipping.

That was my first attempt at a exhaust with a $200 welder. Here is my second try with 2 1/2 inch aluminized(it is actually flowmaster mandrel pipe). The pieces were ment for a pickup and I just chopped them up.

^^ man that pulley worked perfect for the thickness of the cable I am using. Plus it was really smooth with my roller gas pedal. The pulley was golden.

u don't have to be good at welding, u just gotta be good at grinding
thanks

hey zenjoe if it weren't for your site I wouldn't even have gotten as far as I have. I really appreciate all the work you put into your car and the website. I think I have read every single page twice at least, even the forums, lol.

If I ever go back to a streeter it will be because of your car. I am caught up with the baja for now though. offroading is fun as hell and no tickets(yet). I have crazy street tires also though.

What are you running now?

Check out his web site for some really cool vw's with crazy engine conversions.

I'm not running! I kinda sorta sold the conversion to someone to help finance the adoption of my son, who is doing great by the way.

I really want to throw in an sr20ve+t into a notch, but I'm just dreaming about it. And thanks for all the kind words.

I would say it has the power of a 2100cc bug engine, not the torque. The 7000+ rpm at every shift if you want to, makes up for the tq though

Now you have to consider thats what the 12a makes stock. I could see the 12a turbo doing just as well as a 2180 turbo engine.

I am just done with the tinkering with bug engines and cannot afford a new one. Yes I did start it on the ground and broke it in.

Here is my old 1776 powdercoated engine. Dual weber 44's, had like 50 miles at most on the motor. Even took apart the 100 amp alternator and black wrinke powdercoated it(ever seen a bug alt powdercoated?).

Sold it, got a 200hp (stock) nissan 3.0 turbo and the adapter and had about $500 left over after parting out the 300zxt and scraping the car(body was beat anyways). Crank the 3.0 to about 250-275 hp and drop it in a camperbus and pull my baja to the hills, laters.
