There are few different companies that make em. Check out kennedyeng.com, lots of cool adapters there. My next project will be a AWD 87 dodge colt. I have a 400 hp 4g63 engine from a talon, and a nearly perfect 87 dodge colt. Now all I need is a eclipse or talon for the doner AWD and tranny. Going to try and keep it under 2000lbs. I had a 89 colt with a 300hp FWD and could not hook up at all unless I had really wide slicks(no street fun:mad: ). I was netting around high 12's low 13s with alot of wheel spin. This car will remain totally stock from the outside. So if you live in the area, dont race any dodge colts after the first of the year :rlaugh:

Sorry missed the other questions. Its a vw bus tranny, it should help with the lack of torque and the taller tires. There is alot of custom fabbing, but its all the small shit thats starting to add up. The wiring alone is gonna take a week at least. I am very anal about wiring. I have been a installer for 12+ years, so it has to be done right and perfect. It will be for show and go, I will have a different set of fenders and hood for off roading and street. I will post a shot of the engine wiring in a bit.

heres the engine wiring, I am using the loom that they use on airplanes and boats. Its pretty slick stuff with all heat shrink ends where I can. The plug makes it so I can swap between engines and all electrical sensors use the same gauges for the engines except the water(my other engine is a vw 1776 air cooled). When I had my other baja I could swap motors out in about 15-20 minutes. I once broke some springs on my clutch up in the hills. My brother and I pulled the motor, swapped the clutch(I always carry a extra clutch, pressurs plate, throw out bearing, and axles) in less than a half hour. The jeep guys we were with about shit thier pants.

what are all the levers for beside the seat?

how hot does the engine get with the rad in the front and the engine in the rear? does the water pump flow enough to keep everything happy?

those factory levers were for the heater system, I am gonna try and find some cool stuff to do with them, maybe even use them for the new heating system. The one in the center(long shiny one) is for my turning brakes in the rear. It can brake one rear tire(right or left)at a time to corner better or to even help you get out if your stuck on a log, mud, court house flower pot, lowered honda, you know the usual.

Yes they can be flipped, but sometimes cause the parts to wear badly(thats what I hear). I also have a porsche 914 tranny that would work for mid engine. I am running a VW bus tranny. I had the same tranny in my other baja with just a 1500cc single port and was able to smoke the 30inch tires into second no problem. Now I will have more power and torque(yes torque) and should be able to give some good smoke shows with the fat street tires I have.

I wil be using a sidedraft 45 dcoe. Should be very decent power. I am trying to find a pair of small mufflers that muffle well to finish the exhaust. I don't care if its loud but I at least gotta have a pair of cans back there. I am trying to keep the pipes less than 3 ft with the mufflers, and keep it true dual exhaust.

wackyracer: if the t-stat in the cooler works properly it should close the gap when it gets hot. Once the t-stat closes the oil has to go all the way to the other end, then flow back across the other side of the oc and out the other hose. I hope it works ok also. I will have my oil temp sender hooked right to the end of the return hose right before it enters the block. The first few drives I will be keeping a very close eye on the temps and pressure. If that fails I can install a temp switch I already have that screws in where the t-stat goes and it blocks the bypass hole and will turn on my fans(2 mounted to the oc)when a certain temp is reached. Thank you for keepin me in check on these things, as I would like to keep her runnin as long as possible.

heres how the gauges look. el cheapo but I should have enough junk to know if somthing is going south in a hurry. I don't know if I wanna mount switches on the panel. ZOOM ZOOM BLAP

got it fired up today, no exhaust and very loud. Whats the smallest muffler I can use to keep it quiet, smallest???!!

Small is going to be very loud or very restrictive. Because of the high EGT you need a muffler with stainless packing material like a Borla. I would run 2-1 and a single pipe with as much muffler as you can fit.

magnaflow is waaay better than borla for the price / size / etc. --> look to be built better, way quieter, cheaper.... (i've had both)

just got a wrap around intake finally. :git: note: the water pump inlet on the last pic. I had to chop and turn it some so the hose is not so long. i gotta pull it all back out and apart to unstick the apex seal on the rear housing.

I can post the ebay pic later, I am still waitin for it, just won it today. now its time to start collecting turbo parts to boost it up a little. I will be pulling the motor next week. I have to :devil: turbo prep my dcoe also.

I got my apex seal loose. didn't even have to open the engine. I took a flat chisel and ground it flat and just kept pushin it in and out. I didn't scratch it that I can see. I popped it out a little and spun the engine by hand ant it was all the way out. I started it and it runs great, no blue smoke, runs really rich.

I am changing the fpr tommorow to get it down to 3.5 psi(its at 5psi right now). I also had 2 foot flames when it got to about 6000 rpm, no backfiring though.

damn...thats a huge flame. Im working on a 12A swap into a 67 sedan right now. Well, when the weather is warm i work on it
