4 rotor engines

I have been reading through some of the posts and found a few with reference to some 4 rotor engines. What got my attention was someone mentioning how they joined two 12a's together. Is this possible? And if so what other combinations are available to be joined up (13b's together?). Last thought does anyone know all the rotary's that have been created? 10a, 12a, 13b, 20b. Any others? I have heard of 26b's but was curious where they were from.

Cheers guys

any 2 rotor can be mated to another of the same type....13b to 13b, 10a to 10a, etc...a plate has to be machined to go inbetween the two engines, one with the back plate removed and one with the front plate removed...an eccentric shaft then has to be made that connects the 4 rotors together...i am not sure but i think you might want to use carburators to do it because fuel injection might be hard to program...not sure of course....look up granny's speed shop and check out the writeup he did on his 4 rotor outlaw car....there's a link to it from one of the messy pages of the messy site..,.

based in UK they do 4 even 6 rotor conversions,
but from what i'ver heard, they may not b the best quality.
(they weld to shafts together)
the best place to get a 4 rotor kit is a place in New Zealand, hand crafted parts!!!

Um, please expand on the New Zealand shop. This is my next project after supercharging my vert... sandwitching two Series V 13B or 13B-evolve cores together with 4 rotor parts from Australia hopefully

Don't forget about oil, oil cooling, & engine cooling issues with a 4 rotor. I might as well build a tube frame body & move the engine into the transmission tunnel to get weigth & balancing correct.

Precision Engineering make the 4 rotor kit.

I have the parts required to makie a 4 rotor, suit NA only though, was done by Precission Eng too but not one of their kits as used on the FOURRE rx7.
Its for sale too, cheap experiement for someone with the rest of the parts required. $2500NZ and its yours.

With that kit what was included in it and what else would be required to be purchased to get one running.

Cheers Jason

Now that we have the eccentric shaft & I'm guessing the correct center housing parts, the next hard to do item is going to be the oil pump. I have no clue how to build/custom fit one that can handle the volume needed for a 4 rotor engine.

Once your past the oil pump everything else can be made/bought from the aftermarket.

I'd also expect you'd want the engine balanced & blueprinted, because tolerances become more of an issue with a 4 rotor.

4-rotors in Lemans

The engine in the Lemans car was the 26B. NA develpoped around 600HP if I remember correctly. it used a sliding air horn on the intake to increase volumetric efficeincy. theres a web page floating around with all of the data.

Talk to Kudzu racing. Even PM ROTORX7Holly, since she works for the guy that runs Kudzu. They ran ALMS cars and other stuff with EFI 4-rotors on Daytona-type chassis.
