1986 Mazda B2000 12A Bridgeport

well... after a loooooooooooong day of working on the B2000, this is what i have so far

I had to bend the drag-link down and foward to clear the oil pan. the only thing left is to finnish my engin mounts, wiring and fuel. if all else fails, she should be together by next weekend. It's not as easy as it may look. I didnt wanna cut a hole in the floor for the rx7 tranny's location, so I took my new S5 tranny, removed the tail shaft, swapped the shifter fork fingers and shifter shaft from the truck. It's still blows my mind that the only diffrence is the bellhousing and tail shaft. Mazda didnt like changing things too often. So the setup I have now, allows me to use the stock shifter location, stock drive shaft and stock crossmember without modding. the engine mounts are the only custom job I have to do now that thw steering is out of the way. what a day. I have gotten an email from dan, and he seems to think that my setup will be what they call a
"Tire fryer" . He mentioned that the stock 6 port in an S5 have a hard enuf time taking off without blistering the tires off due to the lack of weight in the rear of the vehicle. Sounds fun enuf to me. More pictures will come, batteries died in the camera after I took the engine picture. After that, I will include a sticky on the swap for the entire rx7 community can see what it takes to do this swap. Hell I may even start to produce a 12A mount after all is said and done. We shall see....

Nice I think along time ago there was a swap kit for the 13b

Should be a fun little truck but i dont think it'll make much more power than the stock B2200 fuel injected motor

well It is a 12A full bridge port engine that has allready been ran, and made 228hp at 12,250 rpms at the tires so.......... I do belive it will be a lot more potent that the ol' 2200 engine. especially with the gt35r that's getting mated to it later on. Definatly not my first rotary rodeo, but none the less a diffrent one. What I love about the 12A is that it has a lighter rotation so it spins up alot faster. And since it make three times the stock 80hp 6000 rpm max, it will be alot faster. A 13B has allready been done to many times, the cool thing is that this ol' gal had cryoe'd one piece 3mm seals, solid cryoed third gen corners, new race housings, new irons, cryoed side seals, cryoed side seal springs, and being balanced to 14,000 rpm's makes a scary ride. It's bad when a rotary also makes more torque than a piston engine as well lol it made 145TQ at 6320 rpms. more pictures to follow wednesday. my work scedule sucks, so wednesday will be the next time I can work on it.

Progress is bitter sweet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A long road comming but the engine is mounted and set. I got the fuel system, and ignition to finish this weekend, and a few odds and ends and she should be BRAPPING by monday. this is just a rough draft of the mounts, I should have them pretty here soon. SO.............. I got another ticket on the way home, I didnt realize that 74 in a 55 isnt a good thing oh well, the cop was cool, he loved the rx, said his grandpa had one just like it didnt know if that was a compliment or a insult lol. He told me that I just had to prove the speedo is off, and they will throw it out. He told me it would be easy to belive since the car is
28 yrs old, and I have had it for a short time..... On a good note, I got something in for the ol' FB today.

never had one of these before so I figured it was time. I will keep everyone updated on the progress even though its comming along slowly.

well after much work, someone decides to be a jack *** ans steal all three of my radiators, my full exaust, jakes radiator, my battery, and some other misc parts that I needed to finnish the ol gal. the worst part is that fuel's done, oil system done, and ignition is almost done. But I cant drive it with no radiator. So........... I guess the project is on hold

nice setup dude! this is exactually why I decided to do this swap. alot of fun, but yet majorly diffrent from other builds I have done before. I can still haul what I need to, but yet haul serious *** when I want as well. The reason I chose the 12A is that it's a slightly more difficult swap, I had NOS housings and irons, and crazy idea of a brideport truck. its actually not as hard as some would think. Other than the engine, I only had about 80 bucks in the swap, but I have gotten most of that back from what I have cut out of the truck in scrap lol. of course someone got the good stuff. lol Well I guess my vert will have to donate his radiator so I can finnish this build. pictures will follow in the morning.

well thanks Sam for swinging up and lending a hand today. me and Jake worked on the old gal, then sam came up with a little wisdom, then before you knew it, ITS ALIVE!!!!!!!!! yes the rotary B2000 is alive i say!! what sucks is thar the carb is having some issues with the bridge, so im swapping it with my 600 holley. What really sucks is im gonna have to remove the front cover to repair a oil water hose looking leak lol. other than the engine getting flooded because of my carb, its a MEAN running engine. I moved it and after giving it close to half throttle, and over 500lbs of extra weight with the entire old drive train in the bed, it still doesnt like traction. mohahahaha!!

Thanks for the kind words Dre. I set the timing a little high for getting the engine broke in. I love seeing my porting going to a good cause. The ports on that engine is exactly the same intake ports, and not quite as big on the exhaust ports as my old SA bridgeport. I think you remember how much fun we had in that ol' girl

If I remember correctly weren't you in the car with this day?

Mods, can you delete this thread? I decided to go a different route with a project, so the truck had to go bye bye. I will start the thread of my rx7 soon.
