In the process of moving to Ft. Worth, so hopefully in a couple of months, we'll get this thing back on the dyno and off to the races.
Check the South forum - we have an RX-7 get-together over in Irving once a month, as well as various other non-rotary-specific meets. |

Are you kidding me? I just spent 2hrs reading the whole thread and now I have to wait a couple of months to see the end result :wallbash: All joking aside, you've done a great job, can't wait to see the results with the new setup! BigAl... |
Holy $h!t, this is awesome!
|
this thing is sweet, deffinitely different.
once i saw nova and 13b i had to look |
Took the car out for a spin today to try out the new AEM coils. Long story short...........there is a G101A G-Force transmission in my future.

^ any more pictures videos .? I like seen this car

Things have settled down here a bit, and I've finally had some time to work on the car. I'm currently in the process of fitting it for a Gforce G101A four speed transmission to replace the old TII five speed. So far, the new console to accommodate the linkage and the v-gate shifter is done, as well as the crossmember.

Awesome. So what times are you targeting for now?
|
With all of the suspension mods, a little more boost, switching to e85, and the biggest gain of all..............elimination of my gimpy shifting, I'm thinking 10.50s at 130 mph+ shouldn't be too much of a stretch.
|
Super clean work!
|
Now THAT is how you do a shifter tunnel, I need one of those for my dad's el Camino, sounds like she is to be more of a beast than before.
|
Just finished tuning the beast. Maxed out 4x 2000cc injectors ar 23psi... should easily run low 10s
|
Maxed them out? Is that because of the E85?
|
Sounds nice.
|
wicked

10.50s run yet??

Seems like a waste to go through the work of pulling the engine without improving on something, so I'm doing the following things..... -Bigger radiator -20AN fittings on thermostat housing and radiator -Better fans -Mishimoto 160 degree thermostat -Evan's coolant -Extrude hone of UIM and LIM -New oil cooler moved out from in front of the radiator -Siemens 220lb injectors (so I can run VP C85 ethanol and crank up the boost a few more lbs) -New fabricated lower radiator "hose" made out of thicker aluminum so I don't crush it by over-tightening the fittings -New Hoosier drag radials 10.5s or better coming soon.............. |
good to hear, i shall keep a look ut for fresh updates. my brother has got a trans am, reading your thread makes me want to put my engine in that for shits and giggles

Not yet. When I started the engine after replacing the transmission, it had a significant coolant leak on the rear rotor. We decided to take it to the dyno to get things tuned for E85 and the new ID2000 injectors prior to tearing down the engine. At the end of the dyno session, the car was ridiculous hard to start. Teardown showed signs of a small piece of foreign matter going through the front rotor and pinching one of the apex seals. Seems the coolant leak in the rear rotor was due to a "factory repair" that came loose.

Been slowly making progress. Made a new oil filler neck with a -12 an vent fitting and a new catch can. Also added a bigger intercooler and dedicated intercooler fan.
When i took the car out on the street prior to dynoing it, I thought the tires were slipping in 3rd gear. Turns out it was the clutch. The pressure plate and flywheel were warped due to an improper break in and not resurfacing the flywheel prior to switching out the clutch disk to accommodate the g101A transmission. The clutch plate was severely "blued" and glazed. So, I'm swapping it for a 7.5" rally-style dual-disk quartermaster clutch and 4.5 lb. aluminum flywheel. Had a horrible experience with a local powder coater who ended up doing a horse shit job and managed to get sand in the oil pan. Took me 7 hours to get it clean. The stuff should be back from the new powder coat shop next week and I can get started on assembly. |
Sounds good! You have changed quite a few things since we spoke last. Any pictures of your progress?
|
No pictures yet. Out of town right now. I'll make sure to post some as I put things back together.
