1973 RX2 brake master cylinder

Where can I purchase a brake master cylinder for my '73 RX2? NAPA, Schucks and others just laughed at me. They don't even list a kit for it. Can I modify it to use another master cylinder? Help!!! I can go really fast but I can't stop.

Give ebay a try.
Their is a guy on ebay that is saling one right now.
I picked up a brake, and clutch master cylinder for my 72 Rx2 from him. I paid 120 for both, and they are new.

Also give http://www.nopionline.com/ecat2004/ a try

my solution, being in the same situation as you, was to buy one for a 73 RX-3 and modify the front brake line.

You can buy a MC for the RX-3 from Shucks for about $50 and get it within a couple of days. The piston bore is 1/16th inch smaller than the RX-2 unit. I figured that was better than no brakes at all since the original unit didn't work anymore.

Other than that, what you'll need to do is by a 12" length of brake line (roughly the same diameter as the original) and a brake line union to match. The brake line that goes to the front of the MC is on the top of the unit for the RX-3 instead of the side, so here's what to do next.

The RX-2 brake line is alsometric thread which you cannot buy at a store. Go ahead and by standard thread brake line either 3/8 or 5/16 (I can't recall which). Just get the one that looks the same size as your original.

Cut the new brake line in half. Now, cut the end of the original brake line where it would screw into the MC. Save the fitting. Get a flare tool. Take the American thread fitting that came off the new brake line, flare your original brakeline and put the american fitting on it. Attach the brake line union to it and the other end of the new brake line. Now, take the metric fitting that you cut off the original line, flare the other end of the new line that you cut and put the metric fitting on it. You should now have a 6" length of line with metric on one end and american on the other which is joined via the union to the original brake line with has an american fitting on it.

bend line up and over to screw into the top of the RX-3 cylinder. Bleed the brakes thoroughly and you are ready to go, with a warranty to boot (don't tell them the application).

HTH

We need more information like this. The autoparts supplier says sorry we don't have that and send us on our way.
We need options to keep our beautiful and rare classic perfomance rotary vehicles on the road.
Now I need the same type of info for the suspension and steering hard to find parts.
