1971 Rx-2

hey guys i a 1971 rx2 and i have a 1985 gsl rear end and i was woundering if i could put that in my rx2 and the rear end was from an automatic any tips with the rear end

What exactly are you trying to do? The pinions are enterchangable from one to the other and you can purchase the bracket to make it disc brakes in the rear if that's what your trying to do. You can also use gsl rear disc to do the conversion no need to cut anything like axles you can reuse the rx2 axles. Once you have the off you might want to replace the axlebearings. u can only use the series 2(81-83)lsd diff since the axles are the same size.the series 3(later 83-85 axles are bigger diameter and not interchangeable with the rx2...

So would the gs be considered the series 2 if so I say one at the salvage the other day is that all I would need is just the rear end

most GSL came with LSD. GS came with open diffy. 83 is little tricky but the later ones and 84-85 came with large axles (larger than RX-2 or RX-3) so its not simple "R&R"
