1200/R-100 rear suspension questions/advice

Hello, I was just curious if I could get some advice from fellow 1200/R-100 owners or anyone who might know for that matter.

My 1200 has "ladder bars" installed where the rear leaf springs attach to the car. I have no idea why these were put on, but this is how the car came. I would like to remove these, but I am wondering if I'm missing any parts. It doesn't appear as though I can just remove them and be able to attach the leaf springs onto the car.

It's kind of hard to describe, so I took a bunch of pics today. I'll attach some for reference. I want to remove these because they raise the back of the car a good 3-4 inches and I think it looks goofy. This isn't a drag racing 1200 anyway so I'm not sure why it was done in the first place.

Can anyone with a stock rear suspension 1200/R-100 snap some pics so I can see what a stock setup is supposed to look like?

Thanks,
Mike

Ok, since the forum REFUSES to let me attach photos I put some up on my yahoo photos thing, go here to check out what I'm talking about:

I also snapped a few pics of parts I'm looking for. Mainly the cover for the rear lic. plate light and the keylock cylinder for the gas door. Also need a front drivers side window regulator, if anyone has any of these please PM me.

Thanks,
Mike

If you feel like there should be some kinda shackle there, then why not just cut the ladder bars down to like 4" and drill some new holes in them?

Yeah, I guess that's an idea but they still just look wrong in my opinion. Also they sometimes make noise even while the car is just sitting so I don't think they're really good for the rear suspension, though I doubt if they're actually causing any harm.

Detlman - nah I sure don't have a trunk lock, sorry. Not many spares came with the 1200 unfortunately. Please PM me with what you'd want for the gas door lock though, that would really help out in my quest to complete all these small repairs.
