Awesome!

I'd like to try a 3rotor in my rx8, I currently have a 13bre/20b minus the 1rotor. I'd love to see you do a 3rotor conversion/ sell the shaft and design your own middle plate. Give it for a good price and they would sell like hotcakes.

Try making something like this:
https://www.rx7club.com/20b-forum-95/new-billet-center-engine-plate-turbosmart-782462/

I can't help noticing the picture(w/babe) the rotor housings look much smaller. How many cc's is each?

Holy fack...this is the type of engineering I would love to go into. I have many concepts in mind but don't have nearly the amount of funding nor computer knowledge to do CAD drafting. This is truly something to aspire doing and it is an inspiration. Have you made a 6 rotor version to fit in a FC or FD? If so, that would be something for me to purchase once I'm out of college.

So, has this 12 rotor engine ever ran? Just curious.

The injectors and fuel rail, are inside the intake so it will be a clean look, there are three engine computers each one running off it's own 58x wheel and pickup. That way they are backups if a pick up fails or a computer fails you can still make it home you will just be down some power.

Right now the rotors were using are 89 n/a rotors but were making our own higher compression ones out of aluminum, we will put them in when we getting all our initial testing done.

i do like the idea and the effort you put into it but it really is just eyecandy in the end, or to help enthusiasts point towards ongoing efforts to evolve the engine.

the downside is i doubt these parts are going to be affordable for 98%+ of the RX7 community as it is all designed for a completely different engine than mazda produced requiring basically a complete engine to be handbuilt(short of the stroke, as you said you can use 13B rotors), guesstimating at about $12k for a 3 rotor and only going up from there due to low quantity production. so i guess i just see it as a **** tease. if you produce 3 rotor shafts that work for the 13B engine base, with modified stat gears and intermediate irons as a set, then i could foresee it going somewhere with an affordable pricerange, even the kiwi rotary 4 rotor was bloated pricewise for a smaller-ish 12A basis engine adding 2 12A rotors and utilized many stock easy to get parts with minor modifications(except that was then, 12A parts are no longer easy to find such as the rotor housings new, meaning soon there will be no aftermarket 4 rotor support any longer at all due to rarity which means those kits are pretty worthless or will be soon, yet the still want a grip for them at $7500usd for the basic starting point rotating assembly and modified plates).

i guess i'm just tired of seeing people make 4 rotor engines but never offer anything up for sale at even semi reasonable prices, which would build these cars back up to being competetive. even small 4 bangers are breaking 1000hp these days. yea, a 2 rotor can do it too but it's very touchy at that point, and 3-4 rotor engines just sound like a true race engine.

i think i speak for everyone though that a video would be nice to see it in action.

I just wrote out a big long answer for 30 min to that question but i went to post it and the computer locked up and erased it, but basically this engine was not designed for an rx7, I only put this on here because, I thought some people on here would enjoy seeing it since it is a rotary engine..

and if i do go into production on it maybe it will become cost effective.

Talking

I had asked some questions on the previous thread, just before you had it removed, that may have inspired the cancelation but I would like to re-apply them if you don't mind.

Where is the oil sump/ dry sump?

What about spark plug fouling while at rest? I'm certain you've considered this but just curious about your solution.

When will we be able to hear the most modern symphony of the rotorhead enthusiast?

You had said in the previous thread that your parts were not compatable with Mazda but you're using 13B rotors. Which parts are not Mazda spec and in what way?

Can I come to see your shop?

M

We all enjoy this thread and thank you very much. You are truly amazing for your crazy concept and engineering capabilities. It's just that too many people have too many questions which might seem bad-we're just so curious about everything. Keep on working, finish it, tape videos of it, and we'll praise you like a god! Also please take more pictures when you tear it down and post them(I don't think anyone is going to steal your ideas). Thanx big yellow cat

ps. I really think you should look into the 3 rotor conversion I mentioned in a previous post. E-shaft and middle plate of your own.

Awesome! I was terrified that the answer would be "I just stuck a Holley 4 barrel on it".

Interesting injector placement. Years ago a friend and I made a PP 12A and we did the same thing with the injectors. We included a viewing window so one could see them operate. I'll see if I can find pictures...

Any pictures of the inside of your manifolds?
