WIDEBODY!... Adrenalin Racing.... my experience
So.... as many of you know... cause i talk about like its going outta style... in the last year, ive been collecting parts and ideas, to the ends of which is an RX7 that i choose to call FrankenSeiben. If any further explanation is need.... Franken as in Frankenstein and Sieben as in "7" as in RX7....... now that thats outta the way....
Last month i finally received the final component to complete the "body kit" portion of my car. Since i happen to be super picky, i found that i liked/disliked too many full kits, so i opted to pick and choose between various makers and parts. So here the list of whats on my car (body only)
Corksport Type II front bumper
Bomex FC rear bumber (the 6 month late culprit)
M-sport Wide body fenders ( front and rear )
GP Sports side skirts ( prolly knock offs)
*****SKIP THE NEXT PARAGRAPH IF YOU DONT WANT TO BE BORED*****
Now, granted, i was asking for trouble when i began this endeavor, because most kits are never just "bolt on" and combining all of these makers was pretty sketchy... but hey... i like to be unique. and difficult. So after taking a look to see what was involved i quickly decided that the fitment was a nightmare and to let a body shop to this work for me. After poking around i decided to use Adrenalin Racing in Puyallup. I hadn't heard any good or bad word about them, and after looking at the shop and flipping through their work photos i was impressed. The originally quoted me $700 to do it all in "about a week"... but once they got started they quickly bumped it to $1000. Usually i wouldnt EVER leave my car at a shop.... but body work? haha, no. i fail in body work. Anyway. So the car is back in my garage safely AN ENTIRE MONTH LATER. Granted, for as much work as many hours they claim to have worked on it... i was out the door for $1300.... and with a whole new pain in my ***. YES the kit itself is almost flawlessly seamed together.... but that was the only good part.... In every other respect my car was treated with NO respect. Work that i asked to be done was not touched (filling in the bumpstrips, except the filled them at the seams so now its mismatched) NO masking was involved while primering, i was shaving dried primer off my windows all night, vacuming fiberglass dust out of my Sparco Seats and carpets, Finding random screws and bolts all over... Dude over sprayed primer on my Erikseven converted S5 taillights.... most of my rubber moldings are ruined ( over sprayed with white primer) my engine bay is also dusted in fine white spray.... Lots of work will be needed to make the hood and headlights line up properly with the new bumper, the THREW AWAY my stock front and rear bumper and perfect fenders, with my front turn signals, so now i have to find new ones.... Screw heads are still visible as well in the door jams....they broke my rear logos when removing them....ON top of all of this crap, i literally had to hound these people to finish the car, and they NEVER called me, absolutely NO communication at all. Then they blamed one another for all the problems and unreturned phone calls. So why did it take so long? The owner of the shop told me every time i called that dude was "a perfectionist" so he kept re-doing the work... yeah right.... Theres a little thing called MASKING TAPE that people use..... THEN, they were upset at ME when i told them i was going on vacation and couldn't pick up the car for 2 weeks....
Anyway, i got the car home and set to work pimering it, (thanks for the help Will !!) cause i wasn't leaving it dubb t and multi colored, not even for a day... and will be taking it in for paint and more body work once i can find a body shop that know what they are doing. So any suggestions? experiences? Also, when M-Sport Said 30 mm fender they must have meant 100mm fender, cause if you take a peek at the rear fenders... there is NO way to safely space wheels that far... so time for yet another set of new rims... UG.
ALSO... notice the side view mirrors

If you're willing to drive a little there is a great body shop in Kirkland =) They have an excellent body work specialist and also an excellent painter AND a brand new paint booth which will bake an entire car in a VERY short amount of time.
I take my cars to them for anything I can't/won't do. They fixed my Mazda after my accident and did an excellent job =) FYI this shop is a 30+ mile trip from my house and I've been going there now for over 3 years. It's worth it!

Another piece of advice, I wouldn't take your car back to Adrenalin, I know they're "close", but I have not encountered one instance where there work was good, honored, or pleasing to the customer... I used to hang with the SOUTH street racing crews and that's where a lot of them had taken their cars, HACK JOBS!!

Wow Grae, that looks so great. The mirrors are especially cool. If you need someone to bitch out adrenaline for you give me a call. I'm getting really good at doing that, just ask the Costco tire dept manager.
The way the treated your car was totally unacceptable, I wouldn't have paid them until they cleaned it up.

AsianDude.... Thanks!... too bad the rims gotta go now too...yeah... the GPS kit is ok... the front anyway, but the rear flared out bumber makes me wanna choke a kitten. Thats why the fitment was so hard to do, cause i hand picked all the different parts for their specific details.
Timmy.... I will keep that shop in mind when im ready for paint. And dont worry, i have NO plans on setting foot in that shop again. Adrenalin with no E..... Supposedly it was sold to a new owner a year ago...
Tooshort... thanks for the suggestion as well... im keeping all my options open, and ima shop for a while...(BTW...is it TOOSHORT like the band?)
Michelle- haha thanks for the offer... Im going to talk to the owner, but unfortunately alot of the stuff i found later on when we were sanding and priming... the over spray and stuff, and stupid me, i paid for the work before i left, because i was gonna have Will pick the car up while i was gone... but it wasn't even finished till i got back anyway... I guess i learned the hard way this time....
And thanks to all for the encouragement and good words.... i know it will eventually look perfect, it just gonna take some time and love.... and i got lots of that for my baby!

Ya something like that..... the artist todd shaw.(too$hort) Anyway, was wondering did they just use bondo or did they use fiberglass to mold ur kit on? Im thinkin of molding the rear of my kit cuz i like the way the back of your kit looks smooth and no lines... The stage of your car is the same as mine all primer..
I got the gp kit and my rear dont flare out at all ,

Just keep in mind with paint you're typically going to get what you pay for. A friend of mine had his show car painted by a guy who said he'd beat anybody's price. He ended up taking the car to his house and painting it in his garage instead of at the body shop and upon inspection of the paint job there were hairs and dust throughout the paint and clearcoat. It was an absolute horror. Not only that, but he used a different shade of red cuz he thought it would look better (it is a good color, just not the right one). IMO you're better off to have it done by a professional painter in a shop with a paint booth and NOT having it done as a side project

Shorty... i say to each his own... you gotta rock what YOU like... i just never liked the whole kit when ive seen it.... but obviously my Bomex rear is the complete opposite.... tucked under... i think it reminds me of a newish integra rear end....
Timmy... oh yeaaaaah. I plan on spending more at the paint shop then i did at Adrenaline....
