I know the strike is hurting tons of people but think about the 80% that rejected the contract and the 87% to strike. Thats a big chunk of the veterans and new hires to vote those high numbers which is obvious why our machinists want something said to Boeing. Boeing has money up the a** and will continue to grow which is why I believe with a few weeks of strike they might realize that they need their planes built and cannot take the hurt anymore!

It's amazing how the people complaining are non-union and/or non-boeing workers. Does the IAM strike affect other companies/workers? Of course! Cry about it, or better yet, take Econ and learn that's the way **** works. I couldn't give a **** about non union/boeing workers, you have no say (and shouldn't!) about what the IAM brothers and sisters decide to do. Maybe boeing shouldn't have thrown out **** bag offers/proposals for weeks before the deadline. How does continuing to work after a contract has expired benefit the working populus? Here's a hint, it doesn't. It would give the company very little motive to get their *** in gear and offer a decent contract. FWIW, I felt the money and benefits pre-contract were good. My strike vote was made on the basis that ~30% of my crew will be retiring in the next 5-10 years and I felt they deserved a better pension and hopefully retirement benefits, among other things. My .02 cents

twilight slide is right, this is how **** works, and I am with him about not giving a **** about non union/boeing workers. I'm sorry but i am trying to find the best way to pay MY bills, I'm just looking out for #1. I might not have the years of experience, but a large majority of my coworkers have many years under their belts and they know what's best for us. Newbies and vets sure as hell have more say in the matter of the contract that WE are going to be working under. I could have sworn I started this thread to see what RX-7 drivers were WITH me, haha, where are you at! If you guys want to talk politics, move this thread to the politics forum

There are always two sides to every story and if you bring up one side, the other will definitly show as well.

The only one complaining is Leon Chung and he IS at boeing from my understanding, so I think he has every right to complain. =]
