Who's going to Sevenstock 8?

Just wondering, who's going to Sevenstock 8, down in Irvine, CA on October 8th? I made my hotel reservations the other day and bought my banquet tickets, too. Now, I need to decide whether to fly or drive...probably drive. Anyone planning to do the caravan?

It's less that 18 hours of driving or a two hour flight away, for the largest gathering of rotary-powered vehicles on the planet. People fly from all over the world, including Japan, Australia/NZ, and various locations in Europe. Our caravan is relatively short, comparred to the guys on the East Coast that drive over. If you haven't been, you need to go at least once. And, if you've been once, then you probably need to go again to see all the cool stuff you missed the first time. This will be my fourth (I missed last year due to illness).

Sevenstock is really a special gathering. Where else can you find yourself standing in line for a hotdog next to the President of Mazda (it happened to me), or chat it up with Koby Kobayakawa (the guy who ran the RX-7 programs), or go out and get drunk with the guys from GURU Motorsports (visiting from Australia & NZ)...two nights in a row? Where else can you see a 4-rotor race car, see a mint-condition Suzuki RE-5 rotary motorcycle, touch the Racing Beat land speed record car? And, what other gathering are you sometimes faced with the problem of taking home a bunch of heavy/oversized loot given away at the big raffle...sway bars, light flywheels, carbon fiber hoods, etc.? Many people *profit* by going!

Anyway, too far is a relative term. For what it is, the event might as well be next door...

i'm taking the GF down as kind of a "romantic" vacation... arriving on friday morning - probably hit 6 flags that day, doing the sevenstock thing saturday, putzing around the city on sunday (beach, perhaps), and flying home on monday morning.

Hey Blake,

I know that we're not caravanning with you. We'll be coming in from Phoenix. Our drive's a little shorter (5 hours). Looking forward to seeing you and Rob Golden again. This will be my fifth in a row!! I can't imagine missing one. Too much to see, not to mention the RAFFLE! At Sevenstock 4 I bought 3 raffle tickets and won on every one. Took home more than $200 in merchandise on a $15 investment.

Hope to see a lot of you guys from the NW there!

Tim

sevenstock rooms

Did you guys get a room yet @ the Hilton? If not the block of rooms (group rate) is sold out. The rooms are $109 a night now. I am not sure if I am going to stay at the Hilton or double tree now.

i'm staying at the la quinta by the john wayne airport. kind of a lame hotel, but $55/night from expedia.

i'm really looking forward to this. i'm bringing my big camera and will take as many pictures as i can.

the gf and i are going to magic mountain on friday when we get into town. this is the first time i've left town in years - except for going to vancouver, but that doesn't count since it's only like 1.5hr away and we always come back (hung over) the next day... i'm really going stir crazy right now.
