Who has a membership with Mazda Motorsports? (Mazdaspeed)

I was wondering who has a mazda motorsports membership I want to get one, but you need 2 racing results a year to show them and This year just started and I took most of last year off. Any way I hear it takes two months to get approved anyway. I want to pick up their heim jointed watts link arms. "Part # 0000-04-7426 Watts Link Kit RX7 1979-85 Includes two (2) aluminum links with spherical bearings." I was hopping someone with a membership could get the price of them for me and maybe order then for me if the price is right. Any help would be appreciated.

I've been a member for 5 years now. Unless things have changed, they can approve your membership provisionally, based on your promise to follow through and actually race the car you are building in a reasonable time. Keep in mind, they want to see a real race car, in a legitimate racing class; not a street car you go out and play with. That means Pro7, ITA, ITS, EP, RS, yadda yadda...or whatever autocross or drag race class you are in (probably drifting too, as long as it is real competition). And, they will only sell you parts for that particular car.

The real benefit of the program is that you can buy STOCK parts for 40% off dealer list. That's why they have to be so militant about keeping posers out. If anyone could join, the dealers would revolt. Other than a few Mazda-manufactured race parts, most everything else is resale and the prices are not that great.

Well, if you want in right away, the best thing to do is autocross. Just take it out a couple times in whatever class you belong. It doesn't matter if you are actually competitive, so if your mods put you in an outrageous class and you are last by 3 seconds, no big deal...it counts! At that point, you can buy any stock parts at the deep discount, as well as the performance parts that apply to your class. And, it can still be a daily driver. Drifting may also be a good way, as long as the events are real competition with trophies and such. Drag racing is harder because organized competition is rarer than the usuall Test-n-tune stuff and the time-slips don't list the make and model of car (impossible to verify).

If I'm not mistaken, the first autocross will likely be the "Icebreaker" event in Eugene, on March 5th. http://www.eescc.org/

I am a mazdaspeed motorsports development member and have ordered a few parts through them. Just do a couple autocrosses and send in the results and you should get your membership within a couple weeks as long as you follow through on it. Getting the logos for the contingency program was pain though, took a year to get my decals.
