Shoot... I heard it was discontinued from Permatex.

I would still keep looking though. I think last time I got it was at Action Autoparts in N. Lynwood.

Hylomar is effective but it is nasty stuff. If you've ever rebuilt an engine assembled with hylomar, you will never want to use that stuff again. Smurf Snot is an apt nickname for it.

For general sealing, just use a quality silicone. For holding seals in place during engine building, Crisco is the cheap, effective alternative, plus it acts as a great assembly lube. We fill big syringes with it so it can be easily squeezed into seal grooves, thus hydrolically holding the seals in place. Plus when you light the motor off for the first time, it smells like fried chicken!

FYI permatex lost its licensing rights with Hylomar, so you have to purchase it thru one of the dealers....... Hylomar was designed for some engines as the actual head gasket. I forgot what type it was off hand.

That definatly explains why i can't find it around. Even the lady at Napa was confused it wasnt on the shelf. She said some would be in tomorrow for me.

Mine main reason for wanting it was for the LIM to block and LIM to UIM gaskets. I wanted something non hardening so that I wouldn't have the nightmare of gasket removal if i had to pull the manifold again.

For now both gaskets are just on dry (new gaskets) I'm hoping this won't be a problem. If it is, what do you guys recomend?
