What you all think about doing a US101 run late spring early summer?
So my buddy and I were kicking around the idea of doing a US101 Coastal run With his Supra and with my FC to brake in the new motors. Wanta see if anyone was down for a week long cruse and camping? With stopping in major cities along the way.
He's posting on the supra fourms abuot it too. Think it would be cool to get a bunch of us JDM Sport Coupes and take a nice long good old fassion road trip.
We're thinking late spring early summer. Also try to get people in OR and Cali to join in.
Hit me back if your interested.

right on! we're still working out the details. I brought it up to a few people at the RX7 meet. Sounds like some are down for it.
Still got to work out the details looks like we might have to make a few adjustments for gas stops. found out are residential RX8 only gets 9 miles per gal. LOL

No one around here has a JDM car. This is the US All we got were USDM cars. United States Domestic Market as opposed to Japanese Domestic Market, which are the cars we don't have... I don't understand the JDM obsession. All the FB Japanese guys wish they were lucky enough to get the GSL-SE, all they got were 12a Turbos.

Nothing wrong with the 8. He's just got it built up to the point that he gets 9mpg. At least that's what he told me when he laughed at figuring 17mpg as the average fuel mileage.
by the way wiki JDM here's the def. that someone gave.
The term Japanese Domestic Market (JDM) is used by companies in Japan to refer to the local market for domestic goods and services, as opposed to the international, non-Japanese market. Within the automotive hobbyist import scene, this term most commonly refers to Japanese-brand automobiles and parts designed and constructed to conform to Japanese vehicle and equipment regulations and to suit Japanese market preferences.

Not to be a downer, but Summer traffic on the 101 in Oregon sucks, most of the roads are single lanes and there are many RV's, Canadian drivers and local tourists who drive 5 miles under the speed limit. So not that many opportunities to open up the throttle
There are however a lot of really good roads around Coos Bay and in between I-5 and Lincoln city in Oregon, I don't really know of any good roads in Northern Coastal Oregon though. Another thing to keep in mind is that the State Troopers come out in full force in the summer.
Can't wait to hear what you guys have planned.

Take that into concideration. I would suggest to all that are gonna do the trip with us is to get PreLegal. It's well worth it's weight in gold. If anyone wants to help plan out the route be are guest to help us. Tomorrow night I'm meeting up with my buddy to decide the Dates so I can post it. So all that want to join can request the time off from work.
And to the slow traffic in OR on the 101. It's not like 5 is much better in Cali any day of the year and its 8 lanes. LOL

There was also another forum (I think BMW) that was going to do a coastal run and then head to Redding, California to eat at IN-N-OUT.

Is this still going to happen? If not there is another drive:
This thread was pulled from NWBMWforums, it's going to be great! A big rally that hopefully a lot of people will be attending. There is no tentative date for this, so this thread is for people to converse and give feedback.
A friend and I have been talking and we'll probably be getting a yurt, it's like $25 for a night and has beds and whatever, they hold a lot of people and usually right on the beach. Were also going to take a day or two to get back, hit up the Nor-Cali coast and just be breezy.
Let me know what you think. Post it up.
This is a feeler thread for a rally/drive I’m planning for June 2010.
This will be a 3 day event. The plan would be to leave Friday morning from Tacoma and return Sunday afternoon/evening.
Those of us in the northwest are rather unfortunate due to the fact that we don’t have access to In-N-Out Burger. That’s what I’m told anyway. So In-N-Out Burger will be the theme of the event.
The rally/drive will take us down the Washington, Oregon, and Northern California coast on Highway 101. We will be spending Friday night on the Oregon coast. The idea is being tossed around to stay at a state park with cabins and yurts. Saturday’s portion would take us the rest of the way down to coast to highway 299 which will take us into Redding, Ca which is the location of the closest In-N-Out Burger to us in the PNW. We will then be staying the night in Redding. Sunday will involve a calm drive back up I5.
Highway 101 and 299 are full of fun twisties, and Highway 101 has a lot of great views as you travel down the coast.
This thread is being used to determine how many people would be interested in attending a drive like this.
The final planning will be done by January 2010 to insure that those that want to attend have plenty of time to reserve cabins and/or yurts for our stay in Oregon. They tend to get booked up quick since they accept reservations 9 months in advance.
This will be posted on many different auto enthusiast boards and I do believe a diverse crowd will attend. Domestics, Euros, and Exotics alike…
If you have any input, please feel free to post it in this thread so I can take it into consideration. I’ll be maintaining a list of those that are interested so that when final details are set, I can email/pm those that have expressed interest.
