uh... So... You totally missed the other thread huh?
Also, read your articles carefully - "fully committed to rotary engine development" usually doesn't mean that there will be no new stuff - it means that they're not ready to announce the new car yet.

I guess I did miss the other one, my bad.
Thats wish full thinking but tighter emissions standards we all know its not going to happen. But I am vary pessimistic. Always think it wont end well, and you will always be surprised... or right. lol

Mazda will never drop rotary development completely. If there is a viable business purpose for building a new rotary vehicle it will happen. They need to improve power to mpg at this point for it to happen. I'm sure they have a team of super smart guys obsessing over it 24/7.
My guess is we are 5 years out from any production vehicle with lots of technology to boost mpg.

never the less im sure mazda has ill feelings about the rotary engine after the whole rx8 issues, but it is their own fault for reinventing what was already working great like the 2nd generation rx7's and how reliable they were.
They need to start making first gens and second gens agian. the rx7.1 , they Remade the old chargers and camaros. Why not make more Second gens, that seems to be the Program when Running out of Original idea's.

When the petroleum is gone or becomes unaffordable, and we get serious about alternative fuels, then the rotary may have its day again. The combustion process is very inefficient, and all the wishful thinking will not make an economical gasoline rotary happen, but the rotary is quite insensitive to octane ratings and fuel quality in general. When the fuel quality is no longer suitable to run your Honda, maybe then you can drag out the old RX-7.

Correct me if i'm wrong but does this article mean what we have been suspecting? or is it just a hoax?

When hydrogen technology becomes more popular, I can see this reviving the Rotary. With more power that comes along with it. Hell, they already developed an RX8 that runs off hydrogen.
I wouldn't be so sad so soon.
