Question Washington rebuild shops??

This used to be a sticky... But anyways, I'm going on 187k w no rebuild on my 91 NA. I'm looking to get her rebuilt + pep her up a bit w some porting. I'm not opposed to doing some kind of swap either. When I move out in the end of summer I'll have a garage to do work on my car.

I've heard that haynes rotary closed down. I also heard that atkins rotary was taken to court??

Anyways, if you know of any good places that you have taken your engine to, let me know! Thanks

Hey since your in everett you can try Andy at Mazda Tech (425-710-7427) in Everett and see what you think. I talked to him on the phone today, might get my 12a rebuilt by him. I also did research and he seems to be pretty good. Prolly not like Pineapple but I haven't seen anything bad about him.

The only person I would EVER trust to rebuild an engine is myself. People take better care in building something if it is going in there own car.

Having been in your boat, I would not go back to Lopie. Nice guy and
talks a great game, but for the best money, Pineapple in Portland, hands
down. If you need just a really good Mazda/Rotary mechanic, call Jerry's
Little Car Shop in Auburn. He used to build the GTU cars that ran wild in
the earliy 80's. He is really sharp too. Pienapple can provide you with a
great rebuild. But if you want someone to pull/reinstall and tune a JDM,
call Jerry.

You would be surprised how little tools it takes to re-build an engine. Through the years I have heard bad things about every builder. We are all human though and we make mistakes. If you have the time I say that you pick up a good re-build video(13bre or something like that is what I watched) and just do the work yourself. The experience is well worth it. Not to mention that you are assured that it was done to a level of satisfaction that you approve of.

I picked up my re-build kit through Blake. I think that the total was near 1k. If you are looking at the 4k range for a re-build that would save you some green as well.

yea but there is a LARGE difference between making a mistake and owning up to it...versus trying to tell someone that the factory service manual doesnt know "whats its talking about".

machinist ruler, dial indicators and calipers, telescoping guages, micrometers.....aren't exactly cheap.

but i agree do it yourself is ideal for pocket

is that 13re video pretty good? ive only seen the atkins one and re amimeya one online

i would actually recommend Rotary rockets of washington. its a club so youll have multiple ppl working on it and checking each others work so theres less chance of a mistake being made. i work right next to them and i go and hangout on my lunch break all the time. we're down in kent on east valley highway.
heres there phone # if your interested (425)251-0501
www.rotaryrocketsofwashington.com

but no matter who you have build it. make sure you go through and visually check things out. i got f'ed up by that because my tranny mount wasn't in all the way and it destroyed my driveline so i had to go fix that.so just check it and make sure all the wires are connected and stuff like that

I seriously recomend first stop import perfomance, I got no time on my hands busy with work and the wife. They will pick up ur ride and drop it off to you when it done for no additional charges.
If i call him and just need some advise on what parts to buy or what he would recomend me to get for my application, he will take the time and talk to me about all the goods or bads on the applications i am thinking about doing,

I have taken my SE,GXL,TII,GTU's,VERT, and even my 99 gmc sierra there to pin point a leak it had to determine if it was the water pump or something else, He was slammed with clientel and rebuilds , he took the time to stop what he was doing and came outside and spent the time to crawl under my truck and look where the leak was coming from, then he talked to me where to go get a new pump and reccomend other small things to replace wen i had the pump off...

That is the best customer service i have ever seen. Just took my gxl in there for hessitation problems and all my guages stopd working because i had a short somewhere the 7.5 meter fuse kept blowing every time i would change it, im married and work alot so i got no time to try to fix my self, he calls me not even 1 hour later and fixd the problem.. Then takes the time to tell me what he did to fix it step by step , This guy just has a passion to work on our cars and know his ****.

I would never trust ANYONE to pick up and deliver my car... My mechanics whom I trust greatly ride along for test runs after parts are replaced. Never ever will a mechanic drive my car. I once encountered someone taking my car for a joyride and revving the engine to the maxx after changing the oil. Needless to say he got yelled at for a while and I have never had my car at that shop since.
