My opinion is similar to those who like the vented approach. You should never have to sacrafice performance for style. If your car handles badly under high velocity then there is no fun driving the car. Codeblue's maintain the stock look. One of me favorite things about your car is that it looks so good stock. Then when you pop the hood and see the supercharger it just makes the deal so much sweeter. How much airflow do you guys need to cool that engine down? There might be other alternatives.

Well right now I'm not sure how much more we need to cool things down. We heat wrapped my header and hooked the e-fan back up, there was a big difference and I didnt get vapor lock afterwards. We are also going to change our fuel lines, making them bigger so fuel stays cooler. "Im always up for suggestions". I know we need a vented hood to release some of the hot air from under the hood, and yes I want to keep the car as stock looking as much as possible. I don't want a big hood scoop. My computer has been sent to Gary so blue is out of commission till he sends me my Microtech back. Car is being shipped in a few weeks to Bremerton to be dyno tuned and street tuned, re wire the whole car, and then Keith on the forum is going to paint my car. So I'm in need of hood mods before it gets painted.

the best way to have a stock looking vented hood is to put two small vents at the rear of teh hood. rear meaning as close to the windshield as possible. its commom on a lot of sports cars. so to the average person, the car will still look stock.

You don't want to get the vents to far back because of the high pressure area in front of the windshield which would cause air to go in the vents instead or out of the vents, e.g. cowl induction.

Im going to go with a vented hood. Though we did meet a guy at the track last night that works with Microtechs and troubled cars like Blue. Post Falls sure beats going all the way to Tacoma if it can be helped. His name is Ray if any of you in the Spokane area know of him? I think he will be coming over this next week to look at Blue and give some suggestions for all her problems. I believe he is planning on starting a shop here in our area.

never met the guy, but his boy sure talked him up quite a bit... apparently he's not much with carbs though, cause he can't get the 20b B2000 running right...

(just doesn't instill much confidence with me. if ya can't tune a carb, how ya gonna tune a Microtech?)

good luck with this guy.

Exactly. The red car with the silver stripes has them in the perfect spot where the low pressure area is on the hood.

I agree with Mettalic on most of what he says. Eventhough the red widebody is nice I have never been much of a fan for his widebody. Eventhough it is an extremely nice car it does not fit my fancy.
I also like the look of the red one with stripes, sleek and smooth just like an rx is supposed to look.
Codeblue glad that you are not going to go big scoop I would hate to see a car that beautiful under go such re-constructive surgery. Good luck with your new mechanic and bodymods. What color are you painting it? And also have you ever looked into placing a few small induction tubes that specifically cool off the supercharger?

rrevin7 I like that but not for my car. I think the body kits look great, like joses car is just amazing in itself, but Im a weird one and like things just plain looking to keep an original look as much as possible.

Zzzzz-beater I plan on painting it Blue still but going a bit darker with maybe some money green possibly in it and med white or blue flakes. No, I havent looked into placing a few small induction tubes that specifically cool off the supercharger, but sure up for suggestions on how and where. I will ask. Hopefully I can have all this done before the end of summer so I can enjoy the car before winter hits. Why is it every summer these cars seem to throw wammys at you... Thanks for the nice words David...are you just being nice so I dont get you drunk next year...lol jk. I think I have found another victim. Let us know whats happening with your car when you get started on it.

Metallic Rock, far as work on the car, Gary and Mikey have been the only ones that have worked on my car for major anything. My car is still being shipped to Bremerton to the same people for the initial fix, but as far as regular tuning on the car, you cant really screw up a Microtech if you have your original maps saved. Microtechs seem to need tuning for all weather changes, etc. If there is someone local that can help learn and adjust for these situations, then it sure beats trailering my car accross the state. Daves learning a lot on how to change things, but not enough for comfort.

Gary has to ship my Microtech and handset back to Austraila. Hopefully it wont take too long. One good thing out of all my troubles. I hope someday when all things are good and well with my car, that I can be an example to others if they ever do wish to do a simular setup. It will save someone a lot of time, headaches and money.

Thanks everyone for the help

personally i think that the scoop on the supercharged one looks ridiculous and i would stick with vented vice scoop.

Vented it is...
Not sure if I will do mine exactly like that striped car, but gives for the general what I want done, keeping my stock look.
