Turn over but won't start problem
Turn over but won't start problem
I need help for my FD.
Well, the car was running after the single turbo install. But I have one problem that start right after finished with the install.
First, my low coolant level light is on. There are coolant on the system, coolant level sensor is ok. Now, I found something from search. It was about a connection under the elbow that might caused the coolant light to be on. Can anybody help me with it.
Second. Now, the car won't start after sitting for 2 weeks. Check the battery, it needed charge. I jumped the vehicle, but the still won't start. Check the plug, it is ok (not flooded). I can't find the ignition fuse, can someone let me know where the fuse at? Can't get spark out of plug.
I know that I still need to check the coil.
I need to get it start soon. The car will be tune on the end of May.
Thanks
Daniels

If it were me this is that I would do. Actually, this is what I did
1. Check all fuses
2. If all fuses are good pull the boot off the plug, put a plug in the boot, put the end of the plug near some steel(ie shock tower bolt), crank the car over and verify that you don't have spark. Make sure to check both rotors.
3. Once you verify that you do not have spark, test your coils. I did mine a while ago. I can't remember exactly how you do it. It is really simple though, all you need is the coil and a volt meter.
4. Ohm out your spark plug wires to make sure that there is not too much resistance in the wire. I had this issue once.
5. If your coils and spark plug wires are good, move to the igintor. I have not found a way of testing this. The only suggestion that I can offer is replacement. I bought a couple just in case. V8 guys get rid of them all the time and they are really cheap, ~$20 used.
6. If you replace this one and you are still having the problem move to all the ignition wires and make sure that one is not shorting. Simply use a Continuity tester and check each wire.
If you have a MSD etc you would of course want to check that as well.
Your story does not make complete sense, if you are not getting spark and you still have fuel, your plugs should be flooding. Simply put, your ECU would be telling your injectors to pulse. Just some food for thought.

Thanks for the help Dave. I will send the deposit for Steve Kan on weekend. Can you please PM me his paypal?
Well, I checked the plug about a week after the car won't start. So, the fuel may have evaporated. But, when I try to check the spark, I can see the fuel come out from the rotor housing.
Anybody willing to come over and help me out with it? I am in Lynnwood area near Aldewood Mall.
Thanks
Daniels

No prob. I would lend a hand but you are a little far for me. If you have questions I can lead you through it though.
Steve does not accept paypal. Easiest way is to send him a check. Check the Steve Kan tuning thread, I will post his address.

I tested the car again over this weekend.
The coil tested good (Tested with shock tower bolt). Actually get spark from the spark plug. I have fuel pressure. Still the car won't start.
Now I am stuck. Don't know what else to check.

"but, when I try to check the spark, I can see the fuel come out from the rotor housing."
Isn't this a fairly good sign of flooding? When i flooded my fd there was fuel escaping from the dp. The only thing that worked was new plugs, and then it just fired up and ran with no problem. (until he next time i started it, but that is another issue). new plugs are cheap in relation to other stuff, and really fun to change!
