Trouble starting after being warmed up
Trouble starting after being warmed up
Well i got my 7 back after being "extemely flooded" I am having the following issues.
1991 NA (mostly stock, maybe slightly ported, lighter flywheel)
when hot, headlights on. Idle is around 500rpm. and pulsates slightly.
Should it not be closer to about 800rpm and stable?
After running for a while and warming up, being shut off and attempting to restart 5+ minutes later it has trouble restarting.
Engine turns over, and will fire but does not stay idling unless i depress the gas slightly, then it picks up and idles as stated above.
Could these issues just be caused from the car being very flooded and sitting for a while. I'm thinking i may have some sort of vaccum leak or sensor failure.
can anyone confirm/suggest the cause/solution?
Thanks

i have an idea, check the back of your intake tube, make sure hoses are connected...i forgot to on mine and would NOT hold idle without pushing gas. check connectors around it too lol
Idle should be between 750 and 850RPM's and stable. If your RX-7 was extremely flooded, you should change your oil and your spark-plugs. The reason for "hot-start" flooding is usually due to leaky fuel-injectors and/or low engine-compression.
Also, I do believe that the 89-91 (Series 5) FC's have a built-in unflooding procedure that cuts fuel to the engine when starting if the accelerator-pedal is depressed. It's not a big deal, but you should know (for future reference) that your RX-7 can be unflooded in 20 seconds to 5 minutes depending on the severity of the flooding. Free as well. If your RX-7 was simply "unflooded", that means nothing was done to it to prevent future flooding episodes.
If you need a mechanic to tune/diagnose your car etc. please send me a PM. I'm local to you and work on FC's daily.
