Can you just trade one car for another straight swap or do you have to each sell your cars and pay the sales tax and all that. Any info would be appreciated thanks and no im not trading my seven.

one thing u can do is "gift" both cars to each other, and not pay tax, the car can only be gifted once in its lifetime tho it will show up on the title if it has been allready or not.

Yes, you can trade two vehicles. I've done it 3-4 times. Just make sure that both parties write on the bill of sale, the "value" of each vehicle that are being traded. If there is no value amount written on the bill of sale, then the DOL will go by their own evaluation, and if the vehicles do not book within $1500 of each-other, then they will make you pay the tax difference.

Trading is a very simple procedure. Saves a lot of money.

Let's say than I traded my ford focus for a mazda3. And I org. Payed 9200 for my focus and let's just say it's valued at 8k. And the Mazda 3 is valued at 8500. So if we right the value one bill of sale we would have to pay sales tax?

Then move back to Oregon because we only have to deal with that once a year [instead of every time we buy ANYthing]
