thinking of buying a bike

Hey everyone, I have been thinking about buying a bike. I was looking at getting a crotch rocket because my dad has 3 harleys and if I want to go cruising I just use one of those. I do have my endorsement and I know how to ride safe. I was just wondering if you guys had any buying advise or know of anyone selling a bike. I'm looking at $3500 so its obviously not going to be new I just want it to look decent and be mechanically sound. I just want to be on the road and ride. Thanks in advance for the advice or help.

Really? I saw that thing on youtube last year, I thought they would have some on the streets by now. or maybe it'll never be street legal, it has a ridiculous power to weight ratio, and alot of HP's for any weight motorcycle. That would be a good way to die though. that thing has almost the HP of a lotus Elise and 1/8 the weight, not to mention it probably cuts air like a ****.

I have a pocket rocket (It was given to me). I want to find a small rotary and P port it. then see how fast I can make it go. Probably not as good of a way to die as the norton, but probably have a similar effect.

Good luck finding a decent bike though. I think somone was selling a bike a few months back in the NW for sale section, I'll see if I can find it.

Yeah, I believe you are talking about the NRV-588 if you saw it on youtube last year. However last I heard they were moving to bigger engine... even more madness!

Wow. I'm actually trying to sell my SV650S for $3500. It's my first bike, a great starter w lots of torque + it's pretty forgiving, unlike most 600's.

But I'm only selling it for this week. If no one takes it this week then I'm going to keep it for another few months + then sell it for more. It's worth more than that too. I'm a mechanic + did all the service to it myself. Everything was done last summer, but I'll change the oil + filter again before whomever gets it.

PM me if you're serious about buying it.

fyi- 1st gen r6 is still carbelated, so you would have to jet them properly if you do exhaust.
FI can just get a power commander and a mail order tune.

my 02 r6 was jetted kinda funky (i didnt know what i was doing), but i still put down 3whp more than my roomates 02 f4i.

i would definately suggest a 636 if you're gonna go for a 600. theyre noticably faster than the competition, and handle really well.

Zack,

Don't waste your time with a 600. You will get tired with lack of power, trust me. A purpose built sport bike is fun, but they are not the most comfortable. My back typically hurts and palms get numb within 50 miles.

I bought a z1000 close to 2 years ago and it was the best decision I could have made. Not only did I pay 3400, but the bike is a 2003 and had less than 4,000 miles on it. The bike makes just under 130hp and is plenty fast. Trust me. The sitting stance is halfway between sport and touring. I can ride the bike for an entire tank without getting off to regain feeling in my hands/back. On top of all this the bike is fuel injected!

Let me know if you ever want to go for a ride.

Dave

Sure is plastic in here.

My vote, as always, get an old Honda. Cafe it, and make brand new bikes feel really bad in the twisties. There is nothing quite like the look on a liter bike owner's face when you pass him at speed on the inside of a 25mph corner.

A hair under 300lbs, 360cc of fury, 26.5hp at the wheel Its the most fun you can have on two wheels.
