Swapping steering racks?

I wanna swap out a factory manual rack to a power steering rack. Im assuming is pretty straight forward, but Id like to know if someone already attempted and came across a few issues, or if its a stupid easy swap and I just made a fool of myself by posting this.

Thanks.

Make sure you have the wiring provisions underdash for the PS computer.

I think you'll be disappointed... Feel is vastly superior with the manual.

Anyway, one thing to note is that the nuts are tack welded onto the bracket/straps on the topside of the rack, make sure to unbolt from the bottom ONLY.

No pics but IIRC it's on the left side of the steering column. I think it might be slightly higher than the column as well. It's a good sized box. One thing i noticed on my '86, Mazda was really good about including all the wiring for various options. The harness' for my unused options were retained with dark blue tape, your connector might be taped up somewhere. Get the computer, it will be easy to locate the harness/connector (provided you have it) once you know what the connector looks like. Also, you should look into if the wiring/computer is different for 2-port vs 3-port racks. DL a copy of the FSM if you don't have one, it will help with the electrical side of this swap.

First, why are you swapping racks? Is it to use the MazdaTrix Super Angle kit? Or did you just want powersteering?

also the brackets are bigger for the PS rack, so make sure you have them.
