Exclamation Seattle Auto Show... Might be last year of the RX8? "we cant have 2 rotory platforms"

Got to go down to the auto show today went over to the Mazda lot and started talking to one of the guys from Mazda about the RX8 and he said "to bad they are going to be dropping it soon, this might be the last year" When I ask why they were going to drop it all he said was "Come on we cant have 2 rotary platforms at one time" So when I ask if the 16X was done and the RX9 was a go, he just smiled and said "we will see... we will see."

Ya I know they have plans of the new RX7... but idk from what I have seen if I can call it a RX7... but killing the RX8 all the way? WTF! Idk that kind of suck I like the 8's. So if you want a RX8 this might be your last shot to get a new one.

And that Stingray concept OMG You get the idea its candy.

Well any way hope you guy are having a good weekend cuz I have been.

Dang I was hoping to see the 16X in production. Mazda has been workin on it for some time now. Also looking forward to seeing the hydrogen powered renny in production. However if Mazda comes out with a factory boosted Renesis, that would be great! We shall see indeed!

Ya when he said "Come on we cant have 2 rotary platforms at one time" Its like why cant you have 2 rotary cars? Now I get not wanting to make 2 motors at one time, but come on the 8's are good cars they should keep them around for a bit longer.

And that RX9 I just don't know if I like it yet haha

And you know its not going to take long for the good rotards to make tri rotor kit and make a real monster out of the bigger housings. Hmm the 24X 2.4L twin turbo goodness... o god the fun we could have.

3.2L, P-Port, ITB and straight through exhaust.

It's all about the 4 rotor NA engines (while we're dreaming)

Unfortunately what you guys are posting is really a bunch of old news. Hell even look at the days of those articles, they are from February.

Ive been hearing a couple of things that you could make some conclusions off of. First one, and likely the most credible to a new RX product is that the RX-8 will not meet 2012 rear impact crash test standards. This will supposedly require a platform revamp. So whatever the new RX car is, you are likely to see it before then.

Secondly there is a lot of talk about the 16x actually being delayed to it not meeting power and fuel economy requirements that mazda wants (who saw that one comming??)

Something is bound to happen sooner or later. I personally think we'll at least see a concept by the end of next year.

I think Mazda needs to keep the Rx8 for your sporty family car, Make the RX9 for your normal sports coupe and put out the Furai for you super car... have all your bases covered and make them priced right for there selling market and your making a crap load of cash off of them just like that... they need to do it... DO IT!!!

The only thing I dont like about the RX9 shots is that they dont show it next to say a RX8 or a 3G... idk it looks big, I just wish I could get a scale of how big it is... some place it said its as big as a miata?
