rx getting me in trouble!!!
so i got rolled and arrested tonight for to big and loud of exhaust on my rx-7
luckily for me two people where there for me Michelle and Krystal saved my *** tonight!
they had to drive me back to Oregon lol in my own dam car! so fucked so now i cant drive in Washington till next Thursday for my court date
and no i wasn't speeding or anything i was going under the speed limit!
i hate the police!

nah dude, i have a LOUD exhaust, like you can hear me 2 miles away if i rev it. That loud. I am on college st ALL the time, cop central and have never been pulled over for it, clutch in when yo drive by and that has always worked for me

but **** em i got a 1k ticket for it to lol looks like no wheels for me any time soon lol
i was cuffed and stuffed to for an hour it was lame as ****

Fo sure im ganna fight this bitch the worst part is i had a $20 box of black latex gloves in the car that they kept even after i explained im a ******* mechanic and i use thoes for work dammit! i just bought them too!

i rarely drive my rx7, but did take it through down town seattle with 3.5" exhaust once, never hqad an issue, but than i was driving my hatch the other day, and it has quiet apexi WS2 exhaust and i got pulled over for it... needless to say i didnt get a ticket... lol.
by the end of the conversation with the cop, while i was eating my dairy queen blizzard, he threw my license, and registration through the window at me and said "here's your **** back".. and walked away...lol

IF YOU ONLY KNEW HOW TRUE THAT STATEMENT IS!!! And trust me, they'll spend hundreds of thousands of dollars trying to prove they're right, even if they know they're wrong. If there were any civil rights violations, I can't urge you enough to hunt down a quality attorney and set them straight. The problem is most people will settle out of court and that fixes nothing. DO NOT SETTLE FOR A CHUNK OF MONEY! Make them accountable!

well here is the story, I hopped into my 92 civic hatch, went to Grandview, about a 15 min drive, with the GF to get a blizzard. everything was going good, I had gotten the caramel waffle cone one....
I get off the freeway to Prosser, and make a left hand turn, that goes up hill, and is a 45mph zone. I admit I took the corner a little lazy and wide, but I did not cross the yellow or the white line, and the cop was pulling up the the stop sign in the turn lane.
well I accelerated, mind you not very hard, I saw the cop, I only took the car to maybe 4k, didn’t even hit vtec, and if I would have hit vtec he would have known.
I continue up the hill, and I knew he was going to get me, 10pm, black Honda hatch, bored cop...
well I get about 1/8 of a mile up from him, he flips a bitch, and hauls *** to catch me. as usual the light come on, and I pull over.
the cop walks up the the window, I leave the car running till he gets there, I crack the window about 4-6 inches, he looks into the window and says:
cop: "whets your problem tonight"
me: "umm, nothing...."
cop: "well why were you revvin out your car"
me: "no officer, I didn’t even go over 4k, you would have known if I did"
cop: " well I heard your exhaust, so you must have illegal exhaust"
(ok I BS'ed him a lil here, he was a newer cop)
me: " no officer it is not illegal, it conforms to all Washington state laws."
cop: "oh yea, how is that"
me: "it is a full exhaust all the way out, no cut outs, and the biggest muffler I could get"
cop: well give me your license , registration, and proof of insurance."
I proceed to provide him with all of my info, and he returns my insurance, and says
cop: "ill be back."
during this whole time, my 3/4 full blizzard is melting, and im pissed cause I know the *** hole is going to write me a ticket..
so I say screw it, and start eatin my blizzard, no use letting my good blizzard go to waste, what was the difference at this point.
so about 7 mins goes buy and im eatin that blizzard up, and the cop finally walks back up to the window, with back up of course, and it went a little something like this:
cop: "so, were you on grant street tonight?"
me while eating my blizzard: "nope. first time in town today."
cop: " really, well im going to treat you with respect if you treat me with respect."
me while eating my blizzard: "umm, ok"
cop: "I said im going to treat you with respect, if you treat me with respect..."
me while eating my blizzard: " oh, oh. ok..."
I proceed to set my blizzard down, and the cop looks through the 4-6 inch crack. pissed says, and this is 100% word for word:
cop: "here's your **** back."
flings it through my window like you would throw a playing card, and walks away.
I proceed to start laughing my *** off, and drive home.
I admit I may not have given him his respect he wanted, but I was not going to be pushed around by some you dick head cop..

What is legal in WA as far as exhaust noise?
How do you know if your exhaust is legal? Have you tested it?
If it is legal, why not just explain (politely) to the officer how loud your exhaust is?
If your exhaust is illegal, why bitch about being pulled over for the violation?

great story, very upsetting to me, im sick of there ****, my Dads a cop, and hes very forgiving on the street, he does not pull over people for pathetic laws like exhausts or liscence plates. Stupid!

They have an "official" term for it. It's called "contempt of cop", and it's often accompanied with a resisting and obstructing charge. But...contempt of cop is not illegal. They need to start focusing on fighting crime.

my car is 16 years old, stock exhaust is not and option, my car came from oklahoma it was rotted off. if you look into the exhaust i have, its pretty much the quietest stuff you can get, it has a huge muffler.

mahn f#@k cops!!! I dont know why only import cars are getting pulled over for sum stupid s##t....I've never seen a harley davidson pulled over for their annoying loud exhaust or any muscle car for that matter!

ok buddy, washington laws for exhaust are stupid, anything that the cop deems louder than stock, or they feel as though you modified your exhaust to make it louder is illegal. more or less if you dont have stock exhaust your illegal...
my car is 16 years old, stock exhaust is not and option, my car came from oklahoma it was rotted off. if you look into the exhaust i have, its pretty much the quietest stuff you can get, it has a huge muffler.

(1) Every motor vehicle shall at all times be equipped with a muffler in good working order and in constant operation to prevent excessive or unusual noise, and no person shall use a muffler cut-out, bypass, or similar device upon a motor vehicle on a highway.
(3) No person shall modify the exhaust system of a motor vehicle in a manner which will amplify or increase the noise emitted by the engine of such vehicle above that emitted by the muffler originally installed on the vehicle, and it shall be unlawful for any person to operate a motor vehicle not equipped as required by this subsection, or which has been amplified as prohibited by this subsection. A court may dismiss an infraction notice for a violation of this subsection if there is reasonable grounds to believe that the vehicle was not operated in violation of this subsection.
This subsection (3) does not apply to vehicles twenty-five or more years old or to passenger vehicles being operated off the highways in an organized racing or competitive event conducted by a recognized sanctioning body.

They don't cuff you just for having a loud car. It's also not a $1000. What is the whole story here? Did you mouth off to the cop? Missing insurance/license?
Also, since when as enforcing a law (all be it, a bad one) been a civil rights violation?

they cuffed me cause of the gloves and tools in my car they thought i was stealing cars or cats.. tattoos and being skinny will make them think your on drugs lol
as the ticket its because of a modded exhaust and a cat not in the corect place... i dont know why my cat is in the back thats how it was when i got it..
im not bitching about the cops im just sharing the suck lol

how many more motorcycle deaths a year would there be if they were all as quiet as a prius? hundreds if not thousands. THATS why they dont get pulled over for loud exhaust. why do you think more people in those little ghey mopeds get run off the road.
and how many hot rods do you see cutting people off and speeding all over the place? a hell of a lot less than all the imports around.
