rebuild vs. sell crossroads

Hey guys,

My 3rd gen is dying, smokes really heavy on startup (I think its oil).

I am now at a crossroads trying to decide if I should try to get it rebuilt or find a new home for it. I am not sure even if it is the turbos or the engine that needs the rebuild. Ugh! Any ideas from someone in the tricities would be of great help!

Any thoughts?

Color of smoke? How many miles on engine? Done a compression test lately (though this wouldn't reflect oil seal failure, but it's good to know)?

Have you thought about trying to rebuild it yourself, or do you not have the knowledge/resources to do so?

How much are you thinking of selling it if you are? Just curious.

Smoke? Whitish. I have some UV trace dye somewhere that I am going to put in the coolant and nail it down for sure. The odd thing is that while it is blowing smoke, it still idles smoothly, and drives fine once it finishes. Its just a terrible lot of smoke for 2 min.

I am not going to rebuild it myself, I don't have the time or space. Particularly since pineapple is only a few hours drive from me, although I feel like I am beyond the age when pulling and replacing engines was fun!

If I were to sell it, I would probably ask 7 grand. It's a 93 with 62k on it, pettit large intercooler, downpipe, gab 8 ways, springs, new intake, etc.
