RB exhaust and emmissions?

Would my car pass emmissions with a racing beat exhaust or any exhaust other then stock?

I have the stock exhaust on their right now but both of the cats and the muffler have been burned out(sounds really bad) and I have been thinking its time for a new exhaust but still need the thing to pass emmissions in king county. Also if I take it to be tested and fail will somebody have to look for the cats and other emmissions related garb?

your car should pass emissions if you had an RB catback, but if you modifiy anything cat or before hand it will change the emissions...

if your cats burned out i garentee you wont pass!

My 2nd gen with no cats at all through 1100 or so HC's at idle, and like 2000+ at cruise.

Yah you need at least a main cat. I passed with RB header + bonez high flow cat + custom catback. I had to do some tweaking, though, but that was also because my emissions equipment (ACV mainly) were not functioning properly.

sorry I didn't mention this but I have a 12a with no mods at all, don't know if this matters but thought I should mention. I had carb connection in kirkland tune the carb and it passed three of the four catigores no problem and barely missed the fourth.

I believe the cats were in just as bad of condition at the time of the test and thats why I am wondering if it can still pass with a new exhaust seeing how the cats didn't really do anything before it wouldn't matter if I had any on at all?

If you "almost" passed with cats that were not doing their job, then just upgrading the exhaust and not fixing the cause for not passing emissions will still result in not passing. I believe the stock exhaust piping is 1 7/8" (correct me if wrong). If I were you I would order one or even two catalytic converters on eBay with the correct pipe size, cut out your existing cats, and clamp in the new catalitic converter(s).

5yr warranty generic catco. Even has the inlet/output for air pump. I am not sure the going rate at exhaust shops in your location, but I was quoted I believe $50-70 to have the old cats removed and a new one installed.

My car has the RB exhaust w/o cats. Without main cat you won't pass legally (No matter what crap shops may tell you).
I finally got smart and bought a stock exhaust with new cat for $60 bucks. Can't beat swapping unless u feel safe registering somewhere else...Prolly good idea to get some good jacks and check under the car once in a while anyways-IMO.

I hear that when I failed they sent some lady out to look at the car and pop the hood who had no clue what was going on with the engine, and she basically said that she was just looking for shiny parts that aren't stock, wtf? I'm sure I could have gotten away with having a V8 or 13b and they wouldn't have clue what the difference was.

I think if I end up buying a new exhaust I will keep the old one and buy new cats for it and just swap the exhaust when needed, lots of work but I want a new exhaust so bad.
